Q: Bought this lamp. Really like it. The label on the light portion socket states: MAX 120 V AND also states MAX 42 WATTS. My question is, can I use a 120 watt light bulb or not? It's very confusing

No. you should not use a 120-watt light bulb in a socket rated for a maximum of 42 watts and 120 volts. Using a bulb that exceeds the wattage rating of the socket can cause overheating, potentially leading to fire or damage to the fixture. A light bulb with a wattage of 42 watts or less can be used in a socket that states a maximum of 120 volts and 42 watts. I finally snagged one on clearance since I didnt need a lamp I did not want to pay full price. Get it because I think its on the way out. The light it gives is more up with limited light around since the bulb faces up. Max wat is 42. Super cute and unique. It is lightweigh,t a little top heavy. If I had a complaint it is the switch is higher up so you have to stick your hand in and bend it up due to the low shade.
