About the Book

Little by little, can by can, Mr. Gillie, the trash man, cleans up his town.

Book Synopsis

Meet Mr. Gilly. He cleans up Trashy Town. There's trash at the pizza parlor, trash at the school, and trash at every house. It's a big job, but Mr. Gilly does it with a big truck, a big smile, and loads of style.

Trashy Town features a rhythmic, repeatable refrain that will have children clamoring for repeat readings. Dynamic art from acclaimed illustrator Dan Yaccarino puts the zip in Mr. Gilly's stride and adds style and charm to trash collection.

Perfect for fans of all books about things that GO and how things work--plus for units on community helpers.

My kids get so excited to watch for the garbage collector every week and this book was a hit! It's repetitive which makes it fun that they can "read" it to themselves. Cute illustrations as well!

We absolutely love this book. The repetitive nature of the book is one of the things that my son enjoys about it. We even recite the main line every time we see a garbage truck collecting trash. I would definitely recommend this book as well as other books by the same authors.

Wanted to love this book because of the cute illustrations, but unfortunately the text is super repetitive and really not very interesting. Children's books often benefit from repetitive text but this was too much. The description makes it seem like there's a more complex story but there isn't. The not very interesting "story" could be written on maybe 3 pages max with the only textual change being the locations where trash is picked up like "park" or "school." Very disappointed that I purchased this book. Kid lost interest after the first read despite loving garbage trucks. 2 stars for some cute illustrations and decent quality binding.
