A True Treasure
Brandy has been around for a little over three decades, so for her to now feel comfortable and vulnerable enough to share HER story to the world is something special, especially for the fans, aka her "Starz", as she so lovingly calls us. This Memoir takes us on a journey from when Brandy was a little child growing up in McComb, Mississippi to a big family move to California that will inevitably be where her career begins to grow. The story continues with her going to talent shows to show well, her singing talents, record companies that would dismiss her as she was so young and asked to come back when she was older, and schools that would allow her to grow as an actress and artist. This did not, however, come easy to her as many think, and so with that Brandy takes us down this road to where she explains her trials and tribulations throughout her childhood, career and into woman hood. Some gut-wrenching stories and some beautiful testimonies that will leave you breathless and with deep thought after each Chapter. Brandy's stories are often relatable as she discusses her Christian upbringing in a two-parent household, relationships, school bullies, inspiring people who led her to where she is now, and her struggles as a perfectly imperfect human. Anyone, not just a Brandy fan, can find something relatable to her story in one way or another, and that is what makes Brandy such a special person. In truth I feel there is a little bit of Brandy Norwood in all of us, and that is what makes her so special and drawn to her. She is THAT girl. She is relatable. Phases: A Memoir by Brandy is a treasure and gift that her fans can hold dear to their hearts. Brandy is an extraordinarily brave woman to share her personal stories and is such an inspiration not only to the black community, but also to that ten-year-old little white girl from the south, who first saw a beautiful princess with braids and an angelic voice on the tv screen back in 1997. Brandy is my Mount Rushmore, My North Star, and one of the reasons why I am the woman I am today. She is an inspiration to millions, and I hope with reading this book, that you all will feel even more grateful and appreciative of who Brandy is as a person and artist, just as I am. Happy Reading/Listening.
