Q: Can the lid close while I'm playing a record? Or must it remain open?
A: Actually, having just recently purchased the Victrola Brighton record playe, the cover CAN be closed while an LP is being played. That's why there are cut-outs on three sides of the clear dust cover.

Q: i hooked up speakers to this but the volume doesn't come out of them. How do i get the sound to come out of the attached speakers? they are set up correctly (red in red; white in white). thanks

The Red and White RCA output ports are meant to be plugged into a receiver or amplifier.
