Temperature ratings vary by product. Common household silicone trivets list cold-to-hot ratings (as low as −40°F) and heat limits commonly around 375°F, 480°F, or 500°F. Some specialized appliance mats advertise much higher resistance (up to about 1022°F). Always check the product label for the specific rating before use.

Common sizes include small round or square trivets around 7–8 inches, pot-holder style pads about 9.8 × 7.4 inches, and larger drying or counter mats roughly 12.5 × 16.9 inches. Thicknesses noted for some options are roughly 0.23–0.25 inches.

Most are made from silicone or food-grade silicone. Some pot-holder style pads use cotton or silicone/cotton blends. Appliance-style mats may use fiberglass coated with heat-resistant silicone resin for extra durability and higher heat tolerance.

Silicone trivets come in round and square shapes and in decorative varieties such as carved or hollow patterns, ribbed drying surfaces, floral or nubbed designs, and sets that include multiple unique patterns.

Many items advertise non-slip or no-slip surfaces and include textured nubs, diamond patterns, or raised textures to prevent sliding, improve grip when handling hot dishes, and help disperse heat.
