This item is 100% Polyester, not 100% Cotton. You should not put hot pans, pots, skillets directly out of the oven or straight from the stovetop on top of this item because Polyester will burn or melt.

Didn't realize this was made of polyester. It will melt if you put anything hot on it. Terrible material for a product specifically made to hold things that are hot. I will be returning this, and I recommend you look elsewhere unless you want to scrape melted plastic off the bottoms of your pots & pans.
