Typical instructions: drop the listed number of refill sheets (commonly 3–5) into a compatible 10–12 oz foam pump, add the recommended amount of water, then secure the top and shake. The sheets dissolve and produce a ready-to-pump foamy soap.

Fragrance-free foaming soaps often advertise the absence of ingredients such as parabens, phosphates, phthalates, dyes, added fragrances, sulfates (SLS/SLES), triclosan, ammonia, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and chlorine bleach.
