[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having gone through 5 other heaters, I am thrilled to have found this one which is virtually indestructible. My horse loves to chew on cords and hoses; and this heater has a metal coil surrounding the cord and the heater itself is made of heavy-gauge metal. It performs perfectly keeping his 100-gallon water trough ice free (again, outperforming other, plastic-housed heaters). Wish I'd got this heater years ago!

I can't put it to the test as we are no longer experiencing freezing temperatures here in Central Illinois. I do look forward to using it in the fall/winter though and expect it will perform great!
