Many styles, including my favorite 514, that used to be available in that size are not any more. The 541s seemed similar and were on sale at a very good price, but not returnable. I took a chance. They are worth what I paid, but not full price. This may be a matter of current styles, but the "new" jeans look to be about half washed out, similar to my three year old 514s. One of the two pairs was more faded than the other. The last 514s that I bought were a solid dark blue and required washing separately the first few times lest the rest of the laundry turn blue.

I can fade them myself, so I would prefer some non-faded denim choices in the 541 series, which is my favorite. I like comfortable jeans. The fit of the waist, legs and length are true to size and the athletic taper is perfect for us short, beefy bodies. Levis generally are very durable and age well, but don't look good with sport coats.

Got a good sale price. Like the color. I usually get thicker denim. This one is thin, but good to have for warmer temps. Unfortunately, my regular waste size wasn't available, 36, so I sized up one, 38, but given 541s are loose fit and stretchy, that was a mistake. They are way too big at the waste, but not sending them back, will just use them with a belt. I think even my normal size would be loose, so if I buy more 541s, will size down to 34s.

These were on sale 40% off, a crazy deal, so thought I would try some, despite the stretchy nature. I prefer traditional 100% cotton thick denim STF 501s, which I have worn for decades, and I now like 505s too. The 99% cotton ones work fine too, but these 541s have polyester and elastine, are every stretchy, only 88% cotton. Not really my thing. I bought my normal size but with the loose fit design of the 541, and stretchy materials, I have to wear them with a belt, and they are baggy. I should have sized down. The fabric and look is also not as nice as the all cotton models IMO. That said, since it is a loose fit, I don't feel the stretch as much, and I got them at such a good sale price I have found a role for them, around the house, yardwork, etc. Going out, I opt for the 501s or 505s.
