Kids/Toddler measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Don’t have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Standing with feet together and back to a wall. Measure from floor to the top of the head.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

    I’m obsessed with these! Not only are they adorable but the fabric is so good. It’s so breathable and helps keep my daughter cool throughout the night. They also have some stretch so although they fit true to size, they will grow with her for awhile.

    I received a set of these Gerber 2 piece pajamas from the Stellar Product Testing Panel in exchange for my honest review so here we go! First off these pajamas are really soft and very stretchy. They are a snug fit so stretch is definitely needed. My 3 year old can tumble around no problem in these. They’ve only been through the wash twice so far after receiving them but have held up well. There has been no shrinking or fading of the color. Size wise they fit her perfectly in her standard size she wears. The only downside to these pajamas that I can see is that they are very lightweight so if you are looking for really warm pajamas these would not work for you. I would give these a 5 star review, we really love them! I would definitely recommend this set!

    I received these pajamas from Steller Product Testing Panel. They are a very nice lightweight option for my daughter. She wants to be in these soft pajamas all day long and seems to find these very comfy. I would say they run true to size. She wears a 2t sometimes 3t. She recieved a 3t and there is room for growing. These would work well for a short or tall child. The first time she wore them she spelled immediately and they washed up great! My only negative comment is that if you look closely the pattern on her diaper shows through the back. I would not consider that a deal breaker.

Material is a wonderful cotton and the pink is adorable. The size is also absolutely perfect- I would highly recommend these PJs. Would love to get them in more colors and sizes.

    These pajamas are among some of the softest I have ever felt. They are silky smooth, thin, stretchy and breathable! My daughter loves wearing these to sleep. I love the versatility of these pajamas. These are easy to machine was and dry. No shrinkage or loss of buttery softness! As with most pajamas, I ordered a size up. The top is a bit snug, but the bottoms fit perfect. This is a common problem among pajama sets. I wish you could order the top and bottom separately to get the sizes that you need. With that said, I would still purchase them again! I received these pajamas as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

    We received the Gerber 2-piece pajamas to try as part of the Stellar Products Testing Panel (thank you!). The viscose material is so soft and stretchy! My daughter is tall and skinny so we generally have to size up on sets. She's 2 years old, 35" and 27 lbs wear a 3T in this set. It fits very well with room to grow, so we should get a lot of wear out of it, which is great! We've only washed once, as directed, and the fabric did change a bit after one wash. I'm hoping it holds up well to a wild toddler and many washes, because I love the fabric and need more colors/patterns!
