A: I wouldn't think so. Mine's on a Pergo laminate with no marks.

Q: One of the commenters mentioned glue. Do you really have to use glue with this?
A: No glue is needed. Just place your rug on top of the pad. However, depending on the thickness of the rug, some hold better than others.

Q: Can this pad be used to hold a 5x7 area rug onto carpet, not on hardwood floors. If so, would it harm the carpet underneath.
A: This rug pad should not be used on carpeting as it is specifically made for hard surfaces. I would recommend a reversible rug pad such as Item Number (DPCI): 066-03-0068 - TCIN: 17318147. Q: Can it be washed and dried in the dryer?
A: Thank you for your interest and question. This rug pad cannot be washed in a machine nor can it be dried in a clothing dryer. We recommend that the rug pad be swept or vacuumed to remove debris. Spot cleaning with a mild detergent and then blotted with clean cloth and water is recommended. Please allow rug pad to completely dry before placing back on flooring surface. Thank you.

A: This particular rug size is, 4'8" X 7'6" and would work for 5x8 area rug.
