submitted byAj - 2 months agoA: Thanks for asking! The Murphy Oil Soap Wood Cleaner can be used on colorfast washable fabrics. Wet stain and apply MOS liquid full strength to laundering as usual. This treatment should be applied quickly after the stain occurs, in most cases stains are too well set for any remedy to work. Use two full capfuls of MOS per gallon of cold water and follow washing instructions on fabric.

A: Since we have not tested our Murphy Oil Soap Liquid Wood Cleaner for use on leather, we would not recommend you use it to clean any type of leather. For usage on vinyl, we recommend diluting 1/4 cup of liquid Murphy's per gallon of warm water.

A: Hello, yes this can be used to clean the inside of a car that has a leather interior only! We recommend using the oil soap like a leather conditioner on leather furniture or your vehicles dashboard area or upholstery (not cloth). Use the oil soap at full strength and apply it to a dry cloth. Work it over the area, then use a second cloth to buff it.

A: Hey we're sorry you're having trouble finding the directions on the label. We recommend diluting 1/4 cup of liquid Murphy's per gallon of warm water, and for heavy cleaning, Use 1/2 cup per gallon of warm water. We hope this helps!

There is nothing better than Murphys Oil soap to wash wood. I've used it for over 35 years. It smells wonderful. It leaves your wood floor, cabinets, baseboards, window trims etc so clean and for lack of a better word, moisturized.

Ugh! I don't know whether to buy this now! I too was a big fan of the 'original' Murphy's Oil Soap but over the years got away from using it. Now I have a reason to come back to my tried and true orange spray and oil soap, but after reading all these recent negative reviews, I don't know whether to just pass and look for something new. I'm sorry that you changed the long standing, tried and true formula and even as I'm writing this I guess I'm talking myself into finding a different product. Its disappointing that you had to make this change that seems to be a very unpopular one.

Back in the 1990's I would mix liquid Murphy oil soap with turpentine to clean my oil paint brushes. Mixing the liquid soap with turpentine would generate a thick paste that could clean the gunk off of most anything. I have never been able to make it since then; coincidentally that was when colgate-palmolive took over and changed the formula. I recently tried it again, and it just turned into a useless milky white liquid. I know turpentine hasn't changed so the only logical conclusion is that colgate must have done something to the original formula, or severely watered it down.

I've been using Murphy's oil soap for 25 years. I used the paste. The liquid was not as effective for my purposes. The last bottle I bought was definitely not the same product I'd used for years. Instead of conditioning the wood and leather, it dried them out. Why would you change a product that had such a good following and great recommendations? I won't be buying it anymore and will tell my clients to stop purchasing it. WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE FORMULATION?

Used to leave my wood glowing;.now it's just a drab mess. I had to use the 2 other cleaners to get the drab slime film off of my table that was left by your product. You were very dishonest in pretending and marketing that this was the same product. It is nothing like the old product and you have displayed a very disappointing lack of honesty and integrity.

I’m so disappointed. Murphys Oil Soap has been my go to cleaner for over 30 years. I ran out and went to the store to get a new bottle and was a little confused when I saw that the labeling had changed. But that’s not the only thing that has changed. It does not work as well and does not smell as good as the original product. In this world, there is so very little that you can depend on, but I always thought that Murphys would be a constant. I guess I’ll have to find something else now.
