Q: Can this soap be used as a stain-remover on fabrics?

  • A: Thanks for asking! The Murphy Oil Soap Wood Cleaner can be used on colorfast washable fabrics. Wet stain and apply MOS liquid full strength to laundering as usual. This treatment should be applied quickly after the stain occurs, in most cases stains are too well set for any remedy to work. Use two full capfuls of MOS per gallon of cold water and follow washing instructions on fabric.

  • A: Since we have not tested our Murphy Oil Soap Liquid Wood Cleaner for use on leather, we would not recommend you use it to clean any type of leather. For usage on vinyl, we recommend diluting 1/4 cup of liquid Murphy's per gallon of warm water.

  • A: Hi there! Although the product uses overlap, liquid Murphy's Oil and spray Murphy's Oil are two entirely different formulations. Liquid Murphy's Oil contains pure soap as its primary active ingredient. The spray formula contains some soap but has other ingredients for easier dispensing, faster cleaning, better foaming, and streak-free results. Hope this helps! 🤗

    Not a pleasant smell

    I just bought this soap and I dislike the smell. It doesn't have a clean scent to it. Its too woodys for my taste.

    As soon as I opened the bottle, I could tell this was not the original formula that I was very familiar with. I used it for decades on leather goods and that is what I wanted to continue doing. But this formula has changed and I’m very disappointed.

    Tried & True for 100 years

    I am a professional custodian for a government complex. Been using this as long as I can remember. My mother loved this. Great for skin and allergy sensitivity. Smells wonderful. A little is all that’s needed! Less is more especially with laundry detergent!!!!

    I am so disappointed & I am totally disgusted with Colgate-Palmolive for changing this multi-generationally TRUSTED product. I bought a new bottle, looking forward to doing our wood floors before fall starts. As soon as I opened the bottle, I knew something was amiss! Well, guess what? This is definitely NOT Murphys Oil Soap now. This reformulatikn is a sham & you are effectively bait&switching anyone who buys this product, thinking/trusting that it is WHAT we have come to know a d use to clean & refresh. NOW, each consumer has to figure out HOW to correct the mess this crap creates AND find so things else to use to do the job we had purchased Murphys to do in the first place. THANK YOU so much for further complicating my Life now, instead of BEING the time tested and go-to used product this was. I WOULD strongly suggest that you bring back the previous product and regain ALL THE CUSTOMERS you have duped & offended. Shame on all of you at Colgate-Palmolive company--- you can bet that I will not be using ANY of your (other) toothpastes nor your dish soap because I do not trust your products now.     So many bad reviews!

    I was just about to purchase the newly available formula, but based on the numerous negative customer reviews and terrible responses from the company, I will cherish what is left in my original bottle. Clearly, there are issues with the new scent and the effectiveness of the product. Zero stars for the overall experience.

    REFORMULATED PRODUCT HAS HORRIBLE ODOR

    The new product being sold as "original formula" has a very unpleasant and overpowering smell, reminiscent of a public bathroom at a highway rest stop. And it lingers for days. We loved Murphy's for generations for its gentle and natural scent appropriate for domestic use in a beautiful home. So disappointing. Why would they change what works so well? Help!
