Meal Ruined
I bought the thin sliced breasts for about 10 bucks. One of the three breasts was completely inedible, and I mean weird and something you'd spit out! I let my husband and daughter try a bite and they agreed that It was awful. The tough texture and wet consistency was just bizarre, like nothing I've bitten into before. The other two portions were delicious, however. What if I had fed this to guests? I would have been mortified!

Wooden chicken.
So frustrated that even Smart Chicken is now the same, rubbery, wooden chicken that the other brands have. It’s caused by overfeeding the chickens to make them bigger faster. It’s a sick practice and makes sick food. I’ve stopped buying grocery story chicken altogether. Don’t waste your money, this is the same as the rest.

Something changed!
Have been buying the organic boneless skinless breasts for years. They were almost always amazing. However recently my last three packages have been lower quality. Once fully cooked the chicken has a strange chewy/crunchy texture in the center. This used to be rare, now it’s nearly all the time. Something has changed and not happy about it!!

These negative reviews are definitely wrong. Purchased and boiled to 165 internal temp. Chicken was so good I ate it plain. No seasoning or anything. Usually I buy sprouts air chilled chicken and it comes out rubbery and not all that great. This chicken looks great and it’s very good quality. Look up how they raise the birds on their website. Btw I’m not affiliated at all I just appreciate good quality product. This is by far superior to all store branded and other chicken.

Air chilled is the way to go!
I only buy the Smart Chicken brand- both organic and non. They don’t pump water or filler into the chicken- it’s only air chilled. When you cook the meat, it stays nearly the same size. There isn’t any water needing to be drained from the pan either, so no “boiled” meat but still very moist when cooked to 165-175F. (I highly recommend cooking in clarified butter/ghee for the perfect golden brown.) Additionally, the breasts freeze very well, and are a great size for cutting in half for two meals/people. Most definitely worth the extra dollar or two.
