Just got the mower and charged it for 6 hours. The mower starts off at a low rpm speed than suddenly it speeds up to about double the rpms. Is there a setting or some place to set the rpms

1) HEIGHT. I've always mow at the highest setting. I think the mower cuts too short, even at its highest setting. After mowing my lawn looked terrible. Brown stripes. First time I mowed I thought my grass might be to tall. I've mowed three times and still brown stripe. I take pride in my lawn. People are always complimenting me. I hate to have the expense of buying a new mower, but, I'm going to have to. Hopefully I will be able to sell this one.

This is my second sunjoe 14inch cordless lithium battery mower. I'm very pleased with this mower. My fist one, only a year ago, probably works great yet the envy has caused the handle to be sliced, the black screws for the extension handle to be stolen, and the washer under the mower blade to disappear [too]. I have a small winding lot to mow, and neighborhood rules that call for cut grass to be collected via the mower bag---so this model is perfect. for an Old Lady.

I live in a mobile home park and have enough grass to make me happy. I am on my 7th year with this SunJoe mower. I have never had to recharge it while mowing and have power left over when the lawn is mowed. I recharge it after every mowing. I am 83 with health issues. This mower is so lightweight that I mow it with one hand, as a rule. I am very glad I purchased this mower.

Greatest little mower! Have had it for six years and not one problem. I have a small backyard so the size is perfect. It is easy for my wife to use. I mow the lawn three or four times before it needs recharging.

This little mower was just fine. It did what I needed it to do. But then, the battery wore out. I took the battery out to replace it with a new one, however, was informed by Sun Joe customer service that this particular battery is not replaceable. So now I am stuck with a useless mower....... It will go in the landfill and I will NOT get another Sun Joe product. What a waste!

I learned about the MJ401C-XR a few years ago and got excited, being a gear head I already knew that a Brushless motor produces more power and draws less at the same voltage. they updated the battery to 5Ah. my unit would make it through mowing Front and Back yards on a single charge unless I Iet the grass grow to long. my friends with 18-40v mowers have mentioned how their mowers bogg down in the thick grass, mine kicks up to a higher speed. the MJ401C was sold as a mower/mulcher, I use it to vacuum the leaves as it compresses the leaves down to one bag, raking filled 6 bags. this Xmas I'm upgrading to the MJ401C-XR as my grass has grown thicker, trees are much larger and I don't see any other product that performs as well at a great price in the 13-16" range!

Lightweight and easy to use. My lawn is not smooth but level and height adjustment changes over bumps and have to keep adjusting it. Also have had trouble charging battery but by wiggleing and messing with mower plugin it gets going. Not sure if the battery is replaceable when it reaches end of life. My corded SunJoe mower was perfect but I got tired of lugging the cord around obstacles in my yard.

I like this Mower. It is lightweight. I do not have to use the gas and pollute the environment. I just charge it and I am good to go. This is my first electric mower and I like it. I don't think I will buy another gas Mower again.

I've had this mower for a little over a year now, and it works well. However, there are a couple of problems; I have to stop and empty the bag before it's even half full, because grass starts getting stuck at the opening between the mower and bag. Same problem with the side discharge - grass gets clogged in the chute. Also, when fully charged, the battery only lasts about an hour or less. The battery should last longer, considering it takes up to 4 hours to fully charge. If it weren't for these issues, I'd give it 5 stars.

I was not to sure at first about buying this mower, looked kind of cheap, looks like a turtle. After using it for a year Iam totally impressed!!!!! This mower is light weight can push one handed easy, battery lasts more than 1 1/2 hrs, cuts excellent. If you hit thick grass it automatically increases speed of blade. It’s so light it pushes effortlessly. I would definitely recommend this mower, it is only 14 inches wide so I would not use on a huge lawn.. I also use it for trimming. Note: when I first got this mower the push button switch quite working, called sun joe they had me send it in, with in a couple days sun joe sent me a new mower, what great service. I did this review because this is a great product,

I wanted an easy lawnmower for me because I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I bought a Sun Joe electric lawn mower. It is light enough for me to lift and I plug it in and charge the battery and it did my side yard and all but the middle of my lawn before dying. I’m charging taking a break and should be able to finish it in about an hour. No gas no spark plugs so easy. Push a button and go! I’m happy with it! My next Sun Joe will be wider. It also will probably do the whole lawn if it’s not as long and not as wet. My only wish for future generations of Sun Joe’s is to add something to the handle to keep it on as it is hard with Rheumatoid to hold that down the entire time. I may figure something out for me.

Using it for a second season now. It is lightweight and works reasonably well, battery is OK. Annoying thing is that height adjustment is poorly designed. It's quite awkward to adjust, and worts thing is that it always jumps to the lower position while mowing, one wheel at a time, making lawn look awful. I put cable ties so it stays in place but tbh it's not the kind of engineering I'd like to see on a commercial product, for any price. But if you prefer lowest setting, this would not bother you.
