Q: Are the shelves cut out on the sides or are the legs cut out to allow for the shelves to fit? i am wondering bc i would like to move the shelves up the ladder to allow for a bigger monitor to fit

Nothing is metal as the description suggests. The wrong sized screws came to attach the desk, too long. The interior of the desk now has screws messily poking into the cubby interior. Looks good with shelves. The units do have hardware to connect so it can be stable as a unit. Two person job at points of assembly.
