A: As with most supplements, we always recommend consulting your healthcare professional before taking any of our products during pregnancy or when breastfeeding. We do have parents in the community who choose to use our products throughout their motherhood journey, but everyone is different, so we always recommend checking with your practitioner.

A: We practice sustainable beekeeping by putting the bees first. In order to do so, we need to get as far away from pesticide covered areas. We only work with thoroughly vetted apiaries that meet our standards of sustainability and quality. Our commitment runs deep, so much so that both of our co-founders are certified beekeepers! We take pride in our ability to sustainably harvest all of the hive superfoods, and the harvesting of royal jelly is no exception. Typically, bees will build large queen cells whenever a colony needs a queen. The current queen will lay an egg and the workers will fill the cells with royal jelly. In order to harvest royal jelly, this natural process is mimicked by inserting frames with manually built “queen” cells into a hive. The bees will instinctively build these larger cells into full queen cells and fill them with royal jelly. The frames are then removed at a specific time and the royal jelly is then suctioned out with a special tool very carefully. It’s very time consuming and complex but that’s how we do it carefully to ensure we are not destroying any cells and also ensures we're only harvesting extra royal jelly! To harvest pollen without harming the bees, we have a custom collecting mechanism. It is placed at the entrance to our hives, where it gently combs the pollen off the bees’ legs when they cross it. (Note: The bees do not lose any legs from this mechanism—it is extremely gentle. Additionally, the mechanism only combs pollen off of some of the bees, not all of them, meaning the hive still gets to enjoy plenty of their own pollen.) The way our propolis is collected is fascinating (and completely harmless to the bees). Sheets with small holes (or sometimes sheets of mesh) are placed inside the top of the hive. The bees can’t resist patching up all the holes in their hive with propolis (they know how amazing it is), so the sheet will quickly fill up. When it’s full, the beekeeper will simply slide it out and scrape off the propolis—leaving the rest of the hive completely intact! This is our preferred technique, since it yields the highest quality of propolis and it keeps the bees happy. Our commitment is to deliver a pure, clean, pesticide-free products made with love. Unfortunately, as consumption increases and mass agriculture practices spread, finding clean grounds for our bees to forage is a constant challenge. Our mission is to make sure our bees are happy, healthy, and have access to plenty of clean food and forage.

A: Propolis Throat Spray contains 85mg of highly concentrated bee propolis extract, purified water, and non-GMO vegetable glycerin. For Kids Propolis Throat Spray, we added buckwheat honey, which is a powerful antioxidant that helps provide a sweeter taste and additional throat soothing benefits. It contains slightly less propolis at 77.5mg per serving. For our Propolis Throat Spray, the recommended age is 2+. For our Kid's Propolis Throat Spray, the recommended age is 1+.

A: Our Propolis Throat Spray is perfect mostly for daily immune support, and can help sooth a sore throat during sicknesses. So while it does provide some support for a dry/itchy mouth or throat, that is not what it has been formulated for.

A: Yes, this can absolutely help with a scratchy throat due to seasonal allergies! For daily immune support, we recommend 4 sprays of our Propolis Throat Spray, 1-2 times per day. You can increase this dose to 4-5 times per day, 4 sprays each time, if you're feeling run down, are under more stress than usual, have a scratchy throat or are around others who are exhibiting cough and/or flu symptoms.

A: At Beekeeper's Naturals we continually strive to source the highest quality ingredients from the hive. We recently switched to a new apiary partner for our propolis. The new propolis contains a higher concentration of bioactive polyphenols and flavonoids, which results in increased immune supporting properties per serving. With this stronger formula, you may notice a slight difference in taste, as well as a change in smell. Additionally, our products are not certified organic, but we do third-party test all of our formulas for pesticides and heavy metals to ensure that we only bottle the very best ingredients.
