Q: what are the two button snaps on the front for? i see nothing that could attach to them

A: They snap to each other for when facing outward (it would be too high and on the baby's face otherwise).

A: Yes, it is not a bit that goes around the baby, but just sits in the front to catch the drool. It is easy to remove to wash.

During the newborn period, it worked fine. But once baby grew past 15 lbs, it got uncomfortable to wear for long duration. My shoulders would get sore from the pressure. The straps are narrow and now as cushiony as say a lillebaby carrier.

I really like how compact this carrier is. My "main" carrier is a hybrid wrap style carrier but the straps are long and it is a bit bulky. I got this carrier as my "backup" carrier to take along on the go. Unfortunately it is not comfortable at all and hurts my back a lot (I am very familiar with babywearing, this is my third baby... there are LOTS of carriers more comfortable than this one!) but for the price it isn't bad as long as you aren't using it for an extended period of time, maybe to keep in the car for running errands, etc.

This is the worst carrier I have ever had. It’s like a straight jacket. Almost impossible to do on your own with the many buckles it has. It was tight around my son’s thighs and he’s not a very chunky baby. He’s only 20 lbs. I will be returning this carrier ((in case that wasn’t obvious)).

These carriers do not support baby’s hips, babies legs dangle and it’s so important that babies hips are in an M shape for healthy hip development. I wish carriers like this would get discontinued.
