The system is made up of a soundbar, dedicated rear speakers, and a subwoofer. The majority of your audio fills the room from 11 front-firing drivers, while four up-firing drivers and up and side-firing rear speakers work with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X support to immerse you in sound, even from above. Samsung's Spacefit Sound Pro feature calibrates and auto-optimizes this output based on your room, so you're always assured the best possible experience possible. The HW-Q990D is for more than action-packed movies though, Bluetooth and Tap Sound make it easy to stream your favorite music and playlists too. Samsung continues to provide great products that give great sound at an affordable price. The sound is great for surround and voices are crystal clear. The q symphony was auto detected and I was up and going in minutes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Samsung TV and the Samsung soundbar because I wanted the Q symphony sound using both the TV speakers, the soundbar, wireless base, and wireless surround sound speakers. Really like the set up, minimal wires, and I think great sound. The only issue I am having is that it somehow comes un-synced with each other even though Im using an HDMI E-ARC cable to connect the devices for a "seamless integration". My wife could care less about surround or Dolby Atmos- so if I spend 3-5 minutes to try to reprogram our TV and the soundbar before we watch a show it frustrates her which frustrates me. I wanted to turn the TV and soundbar on with one remote and have it "actively" adjust the sound system for an optimal experience, When it works its great, when it doesnt I sometimes watch shows with just the TV speakers because I dont want to spend the 3-5 minutes (as mentioned above) setting it all up again while wife is patiently waiting. I have seen this complaint on just about every TV/Soundbar forum I have found while trying to find the "fix". Sounds like there isnt one. Even if you download the newest software updates as of July 2025. Anyway, it would really be great if Samsung fixed this for us all. I bought this system (TV/Soundbar) to last about 6 years which is typically how long we use a system. This replaced a 4k TV and an 8 speaker, several thousand dollar system that sounded great, vibrated the house (if you wanted it to), had wires going everywhere. Anyway Help!

The sounds doesn't disappoint. My old soundbar made it hard to make out movies with low talking. This one allows you to bring that sound out more. My kids and I put movies and have a great time with the surround. We feel emersed in the movie.

They always have insane deals going on so it’s a no-brainer. I did, however, expect theater quality atmos based on the aforementioned reviews but was a bit disappointed from there being no overhead sound. Maybe I don’t have it tuned right. Listening to music leaves more to be desired as well, but the system isn’t for that, it’s built for movies and they sound amazing paired with the sub and rear speakers. All things considered, it’s for sure a must buy for the price it sells for.

Never buy another Samsung product again.

You may first want to check the cable connection of the soundbar to the TV or external device to ensure it is secure, and properly connected to the correct port. In addition to checking the connections of the soundbar, please make sure your soundbar is using the latest firmware Version. Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. You can update your firmware by using a USB device. You may also want to initialize your soundbar by pressing the - and + (volume) buttons on the top of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. “INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset. Please know, this will reset all settings on the soundbar back to default; any sound adjustments will need to be performed again. Should you continue to experience audio dropouts, and are connected wirelessly, please use the included cable to connect the soundbar to the TV. Using a wired connection instead of wireless often eliminates the issue entirely and improves the user experience. I hope these tips help resolve your issues. The gaming page on the the menu is the only place you can open your gaming console,unless you set Hdmi auto start whenever you turn on your console and even with that it will sometimes auto start when you just turn on the TV, even when you select "don't run last app" when tuned on. If you decide to connect as a regular Hdmi and have your counsel display in the main menu it will take away the Gamepro settings that you would get if it wasn't in the gaming menu wich is filled with adds for Xbox live and other streaming services. 2. ALEXA works on and off, I tried grouping my TV (wich also has Alexa) with the sound bar and it sometimes hard to hear hear her depending witch speaker it chose to speak from, so you'd have to turn up the soundbar to hear her or the tv and get overly loud when regular shows are running (there's no separate sound for the Alexa voice and the general soundbar). Sometimes there is no sound because both speakers conflict with each other, so I had to reset it a few times to fix the issue. Also if they would ad a second sub that would make it a lot better.
