It charges while it’s screwed into the outlet and then you can unscrew it and use it as a stand alone flashlight. It is very bright and lasts for hours. This has been a life saver for my family.

However, I found a different spot for it and I'm happy with it. It is easy to switch to battery mode and the light is just as bright. It will be perfect if we lose power in the event of a hurricane.

It is not as bright as the 100W or higher halogen floodlights that some may be accustomed to, so check your particular location/application, but it gets the job done if 65W equivalent is sufficient for your needs.

While we do not lose power very often, this light bulb will be perfect for those times when the lights do go out and there you are, unprepared without a flashlight. There is a switching feature that allows it to run all the time or in a power loss situation. This would be perfect for the light above the stairs or in a hallway that does not have any windows.

The light output is fantastic with muchess power draw and I like know that if the power goes out I have a backup light I can always turn on. I recommend this for anyone in a high use area where a backup light is necessary!

What I thought was neat about the Battery back up system is that the floodlight charges while being plugged in, but can be unscrewed and used as a flashlight if needed in a quick situation. The batteries are built in so need to replace batteries, just buy a new bulb and your back in business. This is perfect if you are in areas where the weather causes power outages because candles are not a safe option, but a battery backup flood light is the perfect option.

We haven't had a power outage since I installed this bulb but I look forward to having the opportunity to check it out.

The bulb itself has good lighting. I tested it by turning off power to the outlets and turning on the battery and it seemed to work just fine. I did not test it to the reported 5 hour battery duration but I feel comfortable using it when necessary. Great bulb

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The GE BR30 is an excellent lighting alternative to my incandescent bulbs! This uses a more advanced LED technolgy to bring a very bright lighting experiencem while having a low power consumption and ebergy use. The bulb itself is bigger in size compared to other bulbs I have used; however, it makes it up inproviding power even when there is an outage, This came in handy during storms and hurricanes, especially along Florida beach coasts. I love the fact that this lightbulb recharges quickly when powered on normally. The lighting is beautiful and bright wth a warm, neutral color, which matches my taste. As a result, I do not even have to turn on extra lights around the living room, as this brightens up the rooms and kitchen nicely! The installation process for this lightbulb was very easily and it fit perfectly into the socket. This is great to have when the power goes out, and I certianly recommend this to every household!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The GE LED+ Battery Backup Soft White 65W Replacement LED Indoor Floodlight BR30, is a fantastic concept and extremely useful, especially in my home as we have power outages on a fairly regular basis. The light bulb can be used as a regular light bulb obviously however, the greatest thing about it is that if the power goes out I just have to flip a switch on the side and it will light up from its battery back up. During the last power outage we experienced, the charge lasted at least 4 hours lighting the whole living room. This really is a great, innovative product that can really make a huge difference especially as I have children who are scared of the dark. When I received the bulb it already had a charge so I was able to experience the hand held "flash light" concept and while it is a pretty nifty concept, but I must admit that I would prefer to use a regular flash light, yes the light works and would be great in a bind, but I just feel that it is better for lighting rooms. They lights do not get hot so they are perfectly safe with no risk of burns. I have now placed these lights in all my kids lamps and in the bathrooms and will do so in the foreseeable future as it really is great to have them as back up. I recommend GE LED+ Battery Backup Soft White 65W Replacement LED Indoor Floodlight BR30 for anyone that would like to have some back up lighting in the event of a power outage.

It is a warm white light instead of the yellow warm light that tends to hurt my eyes. It’s also more than bright enough to light up my entire living area but it’s great for multiple areas of the home, so much so I plan to get more for the rest of the house! Great for when the power goes out.

We got to unfortunately experience the backup light as well during a recent storm and were pleasantly surprised. AThe battery backup allowed us to feel calm until full power came back on. It has two options on the switch. The first is "bulb switch on" which is for when there is a power outage. It is super bright which is a huge plus. You just hold it in your hand as you would a flashlight or lantern. The second option is for charging the bulb. You simply put the bulb on a light fixture for about 10 hours and it charges while on! I thought that was pretty awesome. I highly recommend this bulb to anyone that is looking for an emergency light. I am very pleased with this product!
