What I love is that this litter does NOT smell! I live in a studio apartment and everyone that comes in says they wouldn’t even know there was a cat litter box there. Discovering that the key to less odors is unscented litter. Only negative thing is that it tracks everywhere- but sweeping & vacuuming is a daily chore anyway.

Very high dust
It does an okay job with smell (not the best, not the worst), but there's SO. MUCH. DUST. The dust flies everywhere, no matter how slow or careful you are. I hold my breath when cleaning the litter box anyway, but this made it take 5x longer to clean because I had to wait for the dust to settle between scoops.

NOT unscented!! Buyer beware
I have a lot of sensitivities and bad reactions to chemicals & scented products, plus scents are very dangerous and toxic to cats (yes, even essential oils, please do your research for the sake of your cats). We had used this brand a few times before without any issues but the last order of 3 boxes that we got had a VERY strong perfume-y/air freshener smell. We didn’t even discover that this was the culprit right away. I kept smelling something all over the house and on the cats which was strange because we keep a scent-free home. My husband suggested that it was the cat litter and I said there's no way because it's unscented! We did a test and sure enough, it was this brand of cat litter. By this time I've been sick for a week with a migraine, sore throat and dizziness, plus the entire house is infected with this smell because the cats have been using their litter boxes and then sitting, sleeping, and walking everywhere. I contacted Target about how to return this item as I needed some guidance because not only could I not touch the boxes without worsening my symptoms but I also couldn't have these boxes stinking up my car on the way to the store. It’s been over a month and I still get whiffs of this cat litter and it is STILL making me ill. Target was INCREDIBLY UNHELPFUL, even after I pointed out that this product posed a health and safety risk. Absolutely terrible customer service. They offered no sympathy or solutions. I’m never buying any Fresh Step products again. I once boycotted Target for 3+ years over a customer service issue and I'm going to go even longer this time around, if I ever return to shopping with this brand. Couldn't believe how little they cared about my health or my cats' health, and all so that they could save $45. Shame on them.

A good unscented option
When moving with my boyfriend, we switched from scented to unscented. This was our first option and we’re happy. Our roommates cat now uses this as well. It hides scents very well & clumps great. I did deduct 1 star because it does get a bit dusty when cleaning/refilling. My cat also manages to track this a bit but he’s a bit heavy pawed. I wouldn’t say it was enough to deter me or stop from recommending it.

DO NOT BUY
We bought this for our automatic litter box and when we did our weekly deep clean there was sluge all over the walls. doesn't clump and if it does it leaves behind a trail of wet litter. Would not recommend even for regular litter boxes :(

Does not clump - turns into a sludge that my cat then tracks her gross wet paws throughout the house leaving a white, pasty residue on the floor and furniture. Used to like it ... not sure what's changed.

Don’t buy Simply unscented
This used to be the greatest cat litter on the market. I wouldn’t buy anything else in the past. But ever since you changed the label, and obviously the formulation as well, it’s awful. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The product does not stop the smell in any way. The older product that was unscented simply unscented, was fantastic and you could use it for a week or more and it still wouldn’t stink. Now this stuff stinks after the first day of usage. It’s the worst cat litter on the market. I have no idea why you geniuses decided to destroy a perfectly great product. But you have. I do not recommend it and I will never buy it again.

Clumps stay hard, no noticeable smell, and doesn’t stick to the litter box so it stays cleaner longer. Doesn’t track as much compared to another clay litter I’ve tried. Still a little dusty. Also not COMPLETELY unscented, I noticed small amounts of fragrance and even blue specs of litter so maybe it’s cross contaminated at the factory idk but the scent isn’t strong enough to where it’s bothering my cats.

They changed this from unscented to a perfume smell. Been using this litter forever but they added a new floral scent. Change it back to unscented!!
