72" Carson 5 Shelf Bookcase with Doors - Threshold™

A: The book shelves you inquired about are sturdy and strong. I actually have 10 of this styles of shelves (in various shapes and sizes) around the house. Unfortunately, the shelves do not have a cut out for cords cables. I have two answers/sugestoins to answer your question: 1. I have cables running out of the back of one of my shelves. I did not screw the back panel at all points, creating a gap between to shelf and the back paneling large enough to run the cables through. The gap is not noticeable from the front of the shelf. 2. If you have the tools to do so, you could always cut a whole where you would need the cutout for your cables. The shelves are great and I would recommend purchasing them.

A: I actually left the whole back off the book case. The color of my wall looked really nice as a back drop! You could do the same if you want the dvd player on the lower shelf so you dont see all the cords hanging down.

A: I see this question is insanely old, but answering for others. I had multiple of these and I cut a small hole myself in a discrete place and it worked well.

A: we bought two in the grey color and put them side by side and they look nice next to each other.

A: Yes, mine are side by side. They are on a hard wood floor and there is occasionally a gap between them created from slight shifting. I just push them back together and they are fine. They will not look like built ins because you will see the slight gaps between them.

A: They will fit flush to one another as best they can. They won't be as professional built in cabinets. But I think you will be satisfied. Be sure to use the safety tab to secure in place! Love the look!

A: Just so you know, in daylight the espresso color has a purple-ish hue. It doesn’t have a very natural tone. We moved them to our basement media room and they look like a dark brown (like espresso coffee) and the purple hue isn’t noticeable.
