Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

    I bought both my daughters the black flare leggings and they both love it, the waist band is a little wider than other leggings and provides good support, I am 5' approx 118 lbs and fit great in size XL, I love the lenght, it's about the only leggings I have found that are good for petite people like me; another plus is the 95% cotton, which has me buying almost all the colors for my daughters, they live in these! THANKS TARGET!!!!!!!!!!! (The navy seems to be the only color that's not cotton.)

    The Cat and Jack slim sizes are the only pants that fit my girl. I have been trying to get another pair of Mslim Black flare leggings for 6 months after hers got a hole in the knee after a handful of wears. I can't find another brand to fit her. PLEASE PLEASE restock the slims more and sell more of the them, maybe even sell them in store and not just on line. I read hundreds of messages of moms just like me looking for slim sizes on Reddit. I'm thankful you carry them but please restock more often. I did buy 5 other colors a couple weeks ago bc i realize once they sell they won't be back but i really need a couple black pairs.     These have a children's place tag on them but they are NOT the same children's place quality. Usually with this brand there is an elestic band on the inside that can be adjusted to smaller waists. We'll, these DEFINITELY didn't have that...none of them. So that was a huge disappointment.
