These are very obviously matted to ~7.5 x 10.5. I bought four and it was the same for all of them. Didn't need any of the four degrees to measure with a ruler.

Opening smaller then stated
Opening is smaller than stated. Also the gold trim is plastic and very warped. If you have any printing near the edges it will cut it off and you will notice the warped trim. Also the frame itself is cheaply made, looks like they ran out of materials but decided to make it anyways

Design is defective
Not only is the opening too small to display anything properly (as others have said), the back piece and hooks are defectively designed. In order to keep the backing of the frame in, the metal closure pieces need to be attached to the frame itself. These are attached to the backing. So they do not serve their function and there is literally nothing holding the back of the frame in place. If you try to hang it the whole front of the frame (including whatever document you have framed) will simply fall off. No idea how this item is still being sold.

great for framing a page from Time Magazine based on smaller dimensions than advertised
I bought this frame because I wanted to frame an old whole-page advertisement from Time Magazine without needing to worry about matting it myself. Pages from Time Magazine are 8" by 10.75", which is an awkward size to find a good and inexpensive frame for. But because the cutout area of this frame is smaller than the advertised size of 8.5" by 11", it worked pretty well for my purposes (although it was still a little small even for the Time Magazine page). I give this frame five stars for quality and value, minus one star for the inaccurate labeling.

Gorgeous but measurements are wrong
This frame looks incredibly high quality for an amazing price. I was so excited that I bought 3 of them only to take them home and find out the opening is not as advertised. The cutout is SMALL. The gold edge covers text on diplomas this frame advertises that it fits. I guess it was too good to be true. If your diploma is slightly smaller than average or the text is not near the edges this might be viable for some. Otherwise it is useless.
