Don't recommend on Microsoft items

Purchased the two-year plan on an Xbox controller which had a joystick stop working two months after I bought it. I guess I didn't see that this doesn't go into effect until after the one-year manufacturer warranty. The issue here is that now I have to go through Microsoft for the issue so instead of getting a new controller to replace my two-month-old controller, Microsoft sends a refurbished controller as a replacement. On top of that, I get to pay for the shipping to Microsoft which will be another $15 - $20.

Warranty misleading

I found the SquareTrade claim process for my faulty appliance to be easy to use and efficient. However, none of the options that I was given by SquareTrade was what I was expecting. I expected either a check for full replacement value or a new identical item. lnstead, SquareTrade offered me a choice between 1) a check for less than full value, 2) a repair option that would have left me without an appliance at all for a period of time, or 3) replacing my appliance with a new or "like new" item that has similar features. I interpreted this last option to mean that they might send me someone else's used appliance that may not even be the same brand. This is not at all what I was expecting when I purchased the warranty. I selected the check because it seemed like the best option, but it is not enough to buy a replacement appliance. Very disappointing.

When I called SquareTrade the customer service was super friendly. He tried his best to answer my questions and gave me possible solutions. I would recommend buying the square trade although it did not work for me. Unfortunately, I lost my BOSE wireless earbuds so the insurance i bought could not help me. I gave this review 4 stars because they were very helpful and did everything they could but I was disappointed that they could not cover any of the cost even though I purchased this insurance. I still have the charger and case to the wireless earbuds so I was hoping I could return those and at least get some reimbursement back.

All my warranties are displayed on my account with Square Trade. I called and they even merged my second email together. Customer service was very nice and helpful in processing a claim. Were super speedy in the shipping process. Well worth it, especially if item is for your kids.

It’s a pain to need to go on-line to get the warranty. I would prefer a printed version handed to me when I pick up my item. However I do recommend purchasing the warranty to protect your purchase.
