A: Hello Chris, Thank you for contacting SquareTrade. SquareTrade protection plans start from day one, SquareTrade sells extended protection to cover above and beyond what your manufacturer covers. Since SquareTrade is an extended warranty, any existing warranty from a seller or manufacturer does take precedent over the SquareTrade warranty. For normal mechanical and electronic failures, our coverage begins after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. Most items are covered up to one year by the manufacturer. A: Hello RoseB, Registration is purely optional and has to be completed online Squaretrade website. We need a copy of the purchase receipt at the time of filing a claim on your item. Never buy this! Target claims it covers accidental damage, but it only covers technical damage. When you file a claim, Allstate first tells you to go through manufacturer. They then say they sell 2 different plans and you only bought the lower plan. There is never a plan option when you buy it and Allstate covers nothing that the manufacturer doesn’t cover. Waste of money.

Lets call it what it is. If you make us go to the manufacturer for the 1st year, then all we get from this plan is 1 additional year, calling it a 2 year plan is deceiving when you can only use for 1 year

I spent $30 just to realize it's only if I find a defect and not if I cause any physical damage. Once I got emailed this after I bought it, I tried to refund it but I can't. I'm sure this is fine if your scenario is if you somehow don't see that your product doesn't turn on after owning it for years

This 2-year protection plan for an item this pricey is actually a pretty good deal. I checked directly with SquareTrade to see if they had a better deal on their website, but a 3-year plan (their minimum time frame as far as I could see) cost substantially more money. So we grabbed the Target plan for a homegoods brand we've never used before and aren't sure how the appliance will hold up over the long haul. The appliance has a legendary good reputation...but things can always go wrong. Sometimes newer models don't hold up as well as the legendary older ones did.
