About the Author

José Luis Muñoz (Salamanca, 1951) reside en el Valle de Arán, donde codirige, junto a Lluna Vicens, el festival cultural Black Mountain Bossòst. Novelista, articulista y crítico literario y cinematográfico, ha sido reconocido con prestigiosos galardones como los premios Tigre Juan, Azorín, Café Gijón, La Sonrisa Vertical, Camilo José Cela, Francisco García Pavón, Ignacio Aldecoa y Carmen Martín Gaite. Con una prolífica trayectoria que abarca sesenta libros publicados, Muñoz se ha consolidado como una de las voces más destacadas de la novela negra. Sin embargo, su obra también explora con éxito la novela histórica, género en el que destacan títulos como Los ritos secretos, El hijo del diablo y su biografía novelada de Vlad Drakul. Asimismo, sus novelas El secreto del náufrago y El centro del mundo, publicadas por Almuzara, abordan con rigor y profundidad la conquista de México por Hernán Cortés. Muñoz es también el autor de la trilogía épica La pérdida del paraíso, cuyo primer volumen ha inspirado la serie Los 39, una producción de Secuoya Films, dirigida por Max Lemcke y Jorge Saavedra para Televisión Española.
