Q: I'm looking for a bookcase put next to my fireplace that can hold my DVD player and cable box. Does this bookcase have a cutout in the back that would allow the cords to plug into the wall?

A: The book shelves you inquired about are sturdy and strong. I actually have 10 of this styles of shelves (in various shapes and sizes) around the house. Unfortunately, the shelves do not have a cut out for cords cables. I have two answers/sugestoins to answer your question: 1. I have cables running out of the back of one of my shelves. I did not screw the back panel at all points, creating a gap between to shelf and the back paneling large enough to run the cables through. The gap is not noticeable from the front of the shelf. 2. If you have the tools to do so, you could always cut a whole where you would need the cutout for your cables. The shelves are great and I would recommend purchasing them.

A: I actually left the whole back off the book case. The color of my wall looked really nice as a back drop! You could do the same if you want the dvd player on the lower shelf so you dont see all the cords hanging down.

A: They will fit flush to one another as best they can. They won't be as professional built in cabinets. But I think you will be satisfied. Be sure to use the safety tab to secure in place! Love the look!

A: Yes, mine are side by side. They are on a hard wood floor and there is occasionally a gap between them created from slight shifting. I just push them back together and they are fine. They will not look like built ins because you will see the slight gaps between them.

A: Just so you know, in daylight the espresso color has a purple-ish hue. It doesn’t have a very natural tone. We moved them to our basement media room and they look like a dark brown (like espresso coffee) and the purple hue isn’t noticeable.

I don’t get the complaints from people calling this cheap and flimsy…you get what you pay for, and this is a cheap piece of furniture! That being said, assembly was quick and easy, it is sturdy and holds my daughter’s books, collectibles, and art supplies without issue, and looks cute in her room with her white loft bed. If the thing is collapsing after you place 5 books on the shelf, then your construction skills are the issue. If the doors aren’t aligned correctly…again, a construction issue, as there are simple instructions included on how to make sure the doors are lined up properly. You’re not buying Ethan Allen…for $200 from target, this actually exceeded our expectations.

Nice bookcase, however, it came with a very large crack on both sides of the outside panel. It seemed it was well packaged so I can’t say for sure if it was a result of shipping or just a cheap product. Very frustrating to have to ship back a very large item or just keep a broken item at full price.

So cheaply constructed. The side panels are flimsy particle board panels like the ones you have to screw into the back of the book case. Mine arrived damaged in several spots. This is way overpriced for the quality.

This was arrived damaged. The materials did not look as sturdy in-person as the images online make it out to be, so we will be returning it instead of exchanging for an un-damaged bookcase, and instead looking for a new bookcase elsewhere. Target support was very helpful throughout the incident report and return process.

This thing was difficult and time consuming to put together, and the quality is not the best. However for something that looks nice enough and for light use at an inexpensive price this really does the trick. I needed something that would improve the look and organization of my tiny laundry room without costing a fortune, and I absolutely love how it turned out so no complaints there. Some other reviews mention damage to the pieces when delivered, for me there was only one piece that had a hairline crack and it was not visible...I will say that as you are assembling this it is rather fragile/not the best quality and I would just be careful with handling and making assembly mistakes to prevent cracking. Overall, I do really like the design/style of this affordable bookcase, it has a nice look and size to it that will likely complement any space.

Very happy with service and quality of product. product arrived a day earlier than expected. I was nervous at first as the box was close to destroyed when it arrived with a large dent and rip. I was sure the cabinet would be damaged and I'd have to send it back, with the exception of a small section of the back panel it was perfect condition. easy to assemble. fits all the kids board games in the cabinets out of site and has plenty of shelf space for me.
It was worth the wait and it fit just right in my home office

The door was damaged, and the magnet piece was broken. I immediately called and was told they would send replacement parts. I continued to but this together. I ordered two. It took a couple hours to put together. A week later I received an email stating they could not send parts. I was told I have to return to the store to start a refund or an exchange. I will be returning the product fully assembled and will not buy another piece of furniture from this manufacturer.

Mine had several damaged spots. Things that weren’t noticed until after I already built it. (Tears in spots on the backing, which are visible once complete) Target’s solution was to refund it as they didn’t have any more in stock to replace it. But I would have had to take it all apart and drag back into the store. I opted to keep it reluctantly. They didn’t even have spare parts or offer me a discount. So now I spent full price on a damaged bookshelf. At least it looks nice!
