This fan was easy to install and I'm sure would be great indoors. However, on a patio situation, it does not move a lot of air. In fact, I was sure it was running backwards but it was not. There is very little pitch on the blades, and yes, it is quiet, but that is because it runs so slow, and thus, moves very little air. NOT recommended for anything other than a small room indoors.

The fan is extremely weak. The blades move slowly even when it’s on the fastest setting and barely noticeable air movement even when standing directly under the fan. Don’t wast your money. Shame on you Mika-aire for producing such a weak and expensive product. This fan is worthless. The only thing extreme about it is the price. Stay away. Buy anything except this one.

We live in South Louisiana where it gets VERY warm. We ordered this fan for our patio because of the high CFM's, hoping to move the air quite a bit. We were very disappointed after it was installed to find that it did NOT do that. You do feel a breeze but nothing like we were expecting. When it's on the highest speed, it still isn't going very fast or moving the air like it should. It is a very nice looking fan, sleek and stylish but not what we hoped for.
Lots of compliments on this “big fat fan” knockoff! Puts out a ton of air movement and looks great on our new deck!

I installed this fan in our outddor lanai, completely under roof and in less than 6 months after installation, it was rusting. I do not recomment for outdoor lanai use.
