This is a beautifully illustrated book about a young ant girl being independent and going on an adventure, then realizing she needs her community. It's that simple. The haters are reacting to an illustration of a rainbow flag and a male ladybug. There are no untoward undertones. I gladly bought it for my granddaughter.

The story is pretty much "Ant goes somewhere new, chats up bugs she already knew on the way." While many kids' books have no plot, they're usually simpler and meant for beginner readers. The text here doesn't do that. The plot is just an excuse to meet the characters, who are non-traditionally gendered. There was no adventure to be had. I just wanted to read a fun book to my kid, but this was not for us. On the plus side, the art is good.
Wonderful Childrens Book!!

Beautifully written story and completely appropriate for young children, whoever says otherwise clearly has not read the book. Literally, it’s about an ant who goes on an adventure in the garden to find treats. Our daughter Addie loves it!
The best children's book!!!!!!
