Q: Can the shade be removed/replaced with another standard lamp shade?

A: Hello - Thank you for your question. The shade can be replaced but not with any standard shade. The shade is secured by a threaded uno fitter. So, whatever shade you replace with should have a hole at the top of the shade about the same size as the one that exists on this product. Hope that helps! - Joe

A lot of these reviewers don’t understand that the knots in the cord are strategically placed on purpose to help guide you with the assembly. The hold the cord sections in the correct place. They are not “defects” or anything wrong with the lamp :) Do not try to undo the knots. Just follow the instructions and it comes together perfectly! This is an AMAZING, high-quality lamp at a fraction of the price of similar items from places like Pottery Barn. Really gorgeous, sturdy, and creates a beautiful light. Very happy with it!

I was hoping I wouldn’t have the same issue as many of the reviews I read, but I did — there are knots in the lamp’s cord that cannot be undone, which makes it impossible to assemble the pole. I returned it and checked the other one my store had in stock, and it also had knots. Such a bummer! Really wanted this lamp to work!

I wanted to like it. It looked so beautiful on display and I loved the look. Unfortunately it came with knots in the wiring and while I managed to untangle two of them, the last knot is impossible because the pre-set washer is stuck inside the pole. I will try customer service to get help. Otherwise I will have to return it. :(

I wanted to love this lamp so bad. My friend bought one for me as a housewarming gift and tossed the receipt. I assembled it today out of the box and it’s defective. Missing a screw needed to hold the pole up. So disappointing!!!
