Description

Book Synopsis

Through in-depth engagements with Palestinian hip-hop music and graffiti, Affective Resistance reveals how Palestinians sustain an Indigenous claim to their home/land through feeling. Moving beyond the well-worn paradox that resistance both challenges and reproduces domination, this book offers a vital rethinking of resistance, affect, and Indigenous sovereignty by centering the affective dynamics of everyday Palestinian struggle. Developing a decolonizing, embodied narrative methodology for exploring the power of affect, Affective Resistance engages with Palestinian hip-hop music and graffiti as sites of theory as well as struggle. In doing so, the book argues that Palestinians maintain an affective sovereignty with their land--constellations of feeling that sear through the so-called "iron wall" of overwhelming settler colonial violence.
