Changed the quality
This use to be good quality organic ham that made a good sandwich. Now it’s a ground up ham compacted into a shape that has an artificial taste. Very sad because I like it, now I will never buy again.

Don't let the brand and packaging fool you. This is still a highly processed deli meat in my opinion. While it doesn't have the preservatives, its still just mediocre ham. It used to be better, not sure if the recipe has change. With inflation through the roof, everything from manufacturing to food production have seen changes and for one single purpose...to reduce manufacturing costs.

Great product, not salty!
I just tried this sliced ham because I was looking for an organic brand that wasn't full of soduim. Well I have found my go to for sliced ham. IT was delicious and most of all not salty.

Change in packaging and quality--lots of fat marbling now!
I used to buy this item weekly but for the past few weeks, we’ve received this ham in a package that opens from the front and every piece of ham is loaded with fat marbling (previously there were a few spots to work around). It’s now inedible for us :(

Better company, better ham
Delicious! This is the most ethical brand of sliced ham I could find in supermarkets near me. I wish more people would research their meat and dairy products. You don't have to be vegetarian to not support certain horrible things.

I purchased this afternoon and got home and saw that the use by date is February 28, 2023. This is the second time that this happened to me.

Concerned about quality!
The last three packages I bought have been gristley, fatty, and boney. It happens in the center of the meat. The flavor is great, but to bite into gristle, fat, or bone is a shock and just plain disgusting. I also have to talk to my co-op because I thought it was organic and that might explain the change in the packaging. I feel even in the natural meats should come in the same packaging as the organics, because it helps keep things consistent.

Stinky. Spoiled
Spoiled. Opened it the day after purchase and the ham was sticky and smelly. No time to return so it went in the trash.

What a shame!!
I have eaten Applegate Black Forest ham for YEARS as my "emergency sandwich" when I just HAD to eat something now! I bragged on the Applegate product to everyone I knew. Then it started changing. First the 8 slice pack went to 7 slices (3 1/2 servings??) then the ham started to change. I just choaked down the last slice I will buy. It was actually not edible but I refused to throw it away at the extremely high cost. The ham is no longer even recognizable. It is stiff with so many grains of fat it tears when you touch it. The taste is now full on chemical flavored. What a shame!! I was wiling to pay your prices for quality ham. But there are many bargain brands out there that taste the same or even better. I can not Believe the quality you now sale. Really?!!

Solid organic ham, but nothing new
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Applegate Naturals Black Forest Ham was a solid sliced ham. Generally speaking I like to see the uncured aspect but it was admittedly hard to tell the difference between this ham and any other product. Again, no qualms with the product (good taste, seemed fresh) but very hard to tell a distinct difference between this and other brands
