We use to LOVE these but the recipe seems to have changed and $5.99 a box. You can change the price or you can change the recipe but changing both leaves me looking for new breakfast sausage. Let me start out with saying like others, I used to love these. They had great flavour, and a good consistency. I had 2 links every other morning with my breakfast which I looked forward to. Recently, I got a new box and was horrified to find out that the company completely changed the product (and for the worse). It’s inedible. It looks bloated, feels rubbery and bouncy, you can’t taste a hint of sugar or maple, and there’s a really nasty/foul taste that lingers in your mouth like it must be expired. I had to spit it out, I couldn’t even swallow it. It was that bad. This company took a perfectly fine product and made it entirely inedible.

These used to be good, but they recently changed the recipe. The new ones are a white, pale color, fatty/gristly/rubbery and they kind of inflate when you cook them. I think they’ve switched to chicken scraps instead of the high quality meat they used to use. I was a long time customer, but now I can’t eat a single bite. I’m not buying them anymore.

I know applegate said they only changed the maple syrup in the recipe but the fat content seems different too- they cook really weird now- they get really large in the oven and then when you take them out they shrivel significantly- we loved this brand and something is just not right-

Hello, I want to assure you that Applegate recently changed the recipe for the Natural Chicken and Maple Breakfast Sausages to enhance the taste. We are now using a liquid, instead of granular, form of maple syrup. As a result, we have also removed the natural flavors that we previously used in the product. Please know this is the only change. There are no plans to return to the previous recipe, though feedback like yours is something we take very seriously and are grateful for.
