Q: I want to install at patio door without center bracket. Is rod strong enough to hold drapes & not bend without center bracket?

submitted byKatrina - 6 years agoTarget staff supportA: It's iffy. The drapes I bought are rather heavy and lined, and they are spanning about 100". There's a slight, fairly imperceptible bow in the middle, which you may or may not notice depending on how everything is hanging, where the window frame is for visual reference, etc. At this width the rod is almost completely closed in the middle, showing only about an inch of its inside rod. With lighter drapes, it could work, depending on your width. There are also "C" rings available which will slide past a center support. I probably should have those instead of my clip rings!
submitted byla - 6 years agoA: I hung this without the middle support over a window - my toddler pulled it out of the wall. After the center bracket was added, when my preschooler pulled on it the brackets bent but didn't pull out.

Ordered 3 sets to match in our living room. Only 1 came with hardware required to hang. Had to spend 45+ minutes on the phone with support only for them to tell me all they can do is try to email the manufacturers but they don't usually respond to their emails and there was nothing I could do. When looking online Threshold is a Target exclusive compnay so you would think they would be able to get in contact with their own manufacturers.

Extremely disappointed in these curtain rods. Unfortunately, my handyman had already started installing them before I realized how poor the product was, and at that point, I opted to continue with the installation. The inside of the rods were full of rust, which ended up all over my brand new drapes and brand new carpet. They were easy enough to install, and the design was fine but the quality was extremely poor. These weren't cheap rods, so I certainly expected better.

Bought these for a kid’s room - two windows & one closet - and they have withstood the test of time & teen hormones. Imagine teen boys yanking at the curtains to see outside or find things in their closet… yes, these are still standing. I used my own screws & anchors because my walls are old. The rods we have are about an inch thick & sort of a brownish pewter look. It’s been more than 10 years & they look great! • The only negative is that there SHOULD be a middle support bracket, regardless of the width because these rods are thick & heavy, thus the strain occurs in the middle of the rod where the curtains meet. • Additional kudos for the support brackets being super durable & long enough for me to hang sheers under the drapes on this rod.

I bought 2 of these and one didn’t have any screws with it and the other one only had 1 screw with it. There was white drywall on all the hardware so it was clearly used previously.

Save yourself time and drywall and do NOT use the wall anchors provided!! Even with higher quality wall anchors, the brackets are so poorly designed that it is extremely difficult to screw in the upper screw of the bracket because the portion of the bracket designed to hold the rod bends down and blocks your screwdriver. Awful hardware all around.

This is the second curtain rod I've purchased that has been defective - the ball on the end will not screw into the rod, because the screw hole in the rod is crooked. Seems like manufacturers defect. Buyer beware...don't throw out your receipt and boxes like I did before checking if the product actually works.
