Yeah, I can’t believe I’m writing a negative review about Ben & Jerry’s ice cream because their ice cream is the best. What I did not like about this flavor was how it was packages. The top of the container is sealed with a thick coating of the chocolate part of the ice cream. It taste great, but it doesn’t crack easily. I liked to have the chocolate mixed in with the ice cream and you can’t get the ice cream until you’ve broken through the chocolate and it only breaks through in large pieces rendering you unable to have an appropriate size piece of chocolate with an appropriate size spoonful of ice cream. PRO (1): You can never go wrong with Ben & Jerry’s CON (1): the top fill layer of hard chocolate will break plastic spoons and might bend a metal one, but will not give you little chunks to mix evenly with a teaspoon of ice cream

I'm a big fan of Boston cream pie flavor (best donut flavor hands down) but something about this misses the mark. I think the biggest issue is the ganache layer. If you're eating the namesake, you're getting some in every bite, but unless you're eating very calculated like, you get an uneven distribution. Flavor-wise there's also something off, it makes me think of the after flavor of eating with a wooden popsicle stick. Ice cream itself is also rather bland and overly sweet. I dunno, everyone says Ben and Jerry's is the best, but I haven't really enjoyed any of the flavors that much. They sound fun on paper, but just end up kind of gooey and sickly sweet. Definitely a pass.

Dangerously good!
The custard ice cream with cake pieces is so delicious on its own, but when combined with the chocolate ganache and chocolate pieces on top - heaven! I've had to force myself to stop eating at the halfway mark, and admittedly polished off the whole pint twice!! I've never done that before! Yeah, it's really crazy good.

I knew I loved Boston Cream Pie, so when I saw there was a Ben & Jerry's flavor....I ran to Target! I really like this new flavor, I only wish the top chocolate wasn't quite as solid, makes it a little tough to eat right out of the freezer. And with any ice cream with cake bits in it, I always with there was more! ;)
