You see, back in the day, before smartphones and social media, our fans spoke to us via handwritten notes pinned to the bulletin boards at our Scoop Shops. It was sometime in 1986 when one such fan was persistent enough to mail a postcard to our main office in Burlington, Vermont. Super premium ice cream meets great guitar solos? It was genius, and Ben immediately began creating the iconic concoction.
Cherry Garcia debuted in 1987 and quickly became one of our top three most popular flavors. In fact, the first eight ice cream pints went straight to Mr. Garcia himself and were met with two thumbs up. As for the fan who sent the anonymous postcard? Our sleuths found her and thanked her with a trip to Vermont and a year's supply of Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

Ben & Jerry’s is Vermonts finest ice cream. The Cherry Ice Cream with Cherries & Fudge Flakes is delicious. Serving size is one pint and that’s perfect for a quick ice team fix for two servings. I was not sure about the cherry and chocolate flakes but it was quite creamy and flavors meshed perfectly. I’m not a big ice cream fan but once in awhile I like an ice cream fix to satisfy my sweets craving.

This is my absolute favorite ice cream. Love that it has bits of cherry and chocolate and that the ice cream part isn’t just plain vanilla it’s cherry vanilla. It’s smooth and creamy and no overly sweet.

The driver did not bother to let me know that they had left the order outside on an 80 plus degree day and when I went to just check because it seemed they were late.There, it sat and my ice cream was melted.How incredibly frustrating that they can't even bother to let you know that they've delivered the order!

When I’m not feeling in the mood for a fruit flavor instead of a chocolate dominant flavor, this is my go-to. The cherry ice cream makes a nice backdrop for the luscious chocolate chunks and bright cherries. Another classic flavor that should never be forgotten.

Cherry Garcia has been a go-to treat for years, and it’s easy to see why. The blend of cherry ice cream with chunks of real cherries and rich fudge flakes hits a sweet spot between fruity and indulgent. The cherry flavor is natural and refreshing, not overly artificial, and the chocolate pieces add just the right amount of richness. That said, I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple of small reasons: occasionally the chocolate chunks are a bit too large and hard, and the cherry distribution isn’t always even from pint to pint. Still, it’s a delicious and satisfying dessert that’s stood the test of time.

This is the closest alternative I have found to the discontinued Great Value cherry chocolate ice cream. I loved that flavor so much and was disappointed when I found out it was not being made anymore. This has a more real cherry flavor, which is even better than the artificial taste of the other ice cream.
