Big delicious chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough surrounded by creamy vanilla ice cream. It seems like such a no brainer today, but in 1984 it was revolutionary.
The Cookie Dough you know and love started with a simple suggestion: What if you put chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough into vanilla ice cream? That was the wonderful anonymous idea submitted way back in the early days of our first Burlington, Vermont, USA, Scoop Shop. We used to have a bulletin board where people could suggest new flavors for Jerry and Ben to make-and this idea stood out. The folks at the Scoop Shop immediately went to work mixing up a batch of Cookie Dough. It was an instant hit.
Initially, the flavor was only available at the Scoop Shop. When we decided to sell it in tubs, we had to figure out how to get that familiar cookie-dough taste, consistency and texture at ice cream temperatures. We teamed up with Rhino Foods and, over an incredible six year journey, we perfected the cookie dough found in our tubs today. In 1991, Cookie Dough began appearing in freezer aisles everywhere. It has remained one of our most popular and beloved flavors ever since!

Love these. They actually have chunks of cookie dough in as well. Full of flavour and generous amounts of cookie dough inside. It is very easy to eat the whole tub though so I try not to buy it too often

Having a bad day? Ben and Jerry’s will be there for you. This ice cream has never done me wrong. Cookie dough and cherry Garcia are my top picks! Amazing as always, 10/10 DO recommend! I wish they had lower calorie pints though! Once I get my hands on one of these it’s so hard to stop!! Lol

It’s a sin to even call this chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. It’s a pint of overpriced vanilla with very few chocolate chips and ONE measly piece of cookie dough. Never been so irritated with ice cream in my life.

Very tasty. It’s colorful on the packaging. But sometimes if the ice cream has been sitting it will develop frost bite in the freezer. So the texture gets a little icy. They’re very expensive. And I’ve only ever seen it as a small pint of ice cream. But the quality is worth it!

You’d think a combination of ice cream and cookie dough wouldn’t be great. But the flavour combination is just like a mix from heaven and you get several choc chip chunks in each mouthful making it worth the price of the tub.

Did the recipe for both the ice cream and cookie dough chunks change? Doesn't seem as rich as it did before. The cookie dough chunks also seem smaller, drier, and more bland-like cardboard. Oh well, I won't be buying it again.

This is my favorite flavor of ice cream and Ben & Jerry’s did not disappoint. Other brands don’t have enough cookie dough but there were plenty of pieces in this one. I like to wait for the ice cream to thaw a bit in the bowl before I dig in so I can scoop out the cookie dough one by one. I love it so much I had to go back to the store to purchase another.
