Q: Can the phone hotspot be enough? Traveling out of country, was wondering if I could use it as a dash cam. Thanks
A: All Blink cameras require a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Internet connection, so a phone hotspot would not be enough. The cameras use Wi-Fi to send images and notifications so you can view them from the Blink app on your mobile device. At minimum, Blink systems need a connection of at least 2 MBPS upload speed. Wi-Fi is also important for Blink cameras that need to connect to a Sync Module on the same Wi-Fi network. The Sync Module is the hub between the Blink app, Blink Servers and your camera. Without an internet connection, this data exchange is not possible. Note: The Blink Mini, Wired Floodlight, and Video Doorbell do not require a Sync Module to function, but do require a local Wi-Fi signal.
submitted byBlink - 1 month agoBrand expertA: Hello JVZ and thank you for your question! The Blink Outdoor 4 requires a stable and consistent WiFi connection to communicate with the cloud/Sync Module. Unfortunately, a cell phone hot spot would not provide the speed and data required to maintain this connection. Hope this helps! Have a great day!

Q: Can you use just the battery without having to plug the cameras in to an electric outlet?
A: Hello Djr21, you want to know if you are able to use the Blink Outdoor 4 Batter-Powered Smart Security Camera without having to plug it into an electric outlet. The Blink Outdoor 4 Batter-Powered Smart Security Camera does not required to be plugged in, the source of power is two AA lithium batteries. You only have to plug in the Blink Sync Module 2. Hope this has addressed your concern. Have an amazing day!

Q: If I already have a blink subscription for my 4 cameras at home and I want to add these 4 more cameras, do I have to buy another subscription?
A: Hi Q! As long as you are subscribed to the Blink Plus Plan all of your cameras will be included once you set them up! Please note, this listing is actually for 3 of the Blink Outdoor 4 cameras. It can be a little confusing as this generation is the Outdoor 4. This listing also includes an additional Sync Module 2, but you are fine to just connect these to your existing Sync Module. I hope that helps, have a great rest of your day!

Q: Do you need internet to get notifications from the cameras?
A: Hello Jonathan and thank you for asking this question. Blink cameras require a WIFI connection in order to record videos or send notifications. As long as both the camera and whatever device you want to receive notifications on both have a data connection then you will be good to go. They do not have to be on the same WIFI signal as each other. I hope this answers your question and that you have a great day.

Q: Are the cameras waterproof?
A: Hello Lillady419 and thank you for your question! The Blink Outdoor 4 camera is rated IP65 weather-resistant and can be mounted to a variety of outdoor surfaces. Note: Once the port cover is removed, the camera is no longer weather-resistant unless it's powered through its USB-C port using a weather resistant USB-C adapter (sold separately). Hope this helps! Have a great day!

Q: How do you put batteries in or open them up to change them?
A: Hello Lillady419, Thank you for question. Once your back cover is removed, insert your batteries with the positive (+) and negative (-) poles aligned within the battery compartment. To remove the back cover of your camera, use the included right angle/adapter opening tool or large screwdriver. 1. Turn the screw to the left (counterclockwise) until it rotates freely. 2. Use the right angle/adapter opening tool to gently pry in one direction, lifting the back cover. Note: Blink cameras are only compatible with size AA 1.5 volt Lithium non-rechargeable batteries. Hope this helps, have a nice day!

Q: This system comes with 3 cameras. Do i need to subscribe for all 3 cameras to work? i read one of the reviews and it made it sound like if you want more than 1 camera to work you have to subscribe.
A: There is a subscription for our cloud storage, but customers are not required to use it. Another storage option is local storage, activated by plugging a USB flash drive into a Sync Module 2. Local storage has no recurring fee to use the feature. Either of these storage options will let you view clips remotely from your phone. Without a storage system for your clips your system will be able to detect motion, notify you of the motion, and live view. To learn more about Blink's storage options please check out our article here: https://support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/before-you-begin/blink-storage-options
