Q: How can 17 ounces equate to 4 cups?

submitted by Pops - 1 month ago
  • A: Thank you for your question! As a European company, Bodum uses 4 oz European “cup” sizes, four of which equals about the 17 oz volume of our Pour Over. Q: On cleaning the glass, how easy is it to get your hand inside the carafe to thoroughly clean?

submitted by KS PourOver - 7 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your question! This Pour Over is very easy to clean thanks to its dishwasher-safe borosilicate glass carafe. Simply loosen and unwrap the leather band to remove the cork sleeve, then place the carafe - and the permanent stainless steel filter - on the top rack of your dishwasher! Handwashing is simple as well; while we don’t recommend reaching inside the carafe due to its hourglass shape, a dish brush makes it easy to clean the glass thoroughly. Hope this helps!

Q: 1) Can carafe with coffee in it be reheated in microwave? 2) Can some kind of "gentle" mug warmer be used under carafe while doing the pour-over & afterward to keep coffee warm?

submitted by yaks - 1 year ago
  • A: Thank you for your questions! We don’t recommend heating the POUR OVER in the microwave or on a mug warmer, especially anything with an open flame, as it’s not designed for direct heat. For reheating, we suggest transferring your coffee to a microwave-safe mug or exploring our double-wall insulated mugs, which help keep your coffee hot for longer. Hope this helps!

Q: I I want to use a paper filter, as well with this, for dual filtration, what size/which one shoud I get? Mellita? Thx!!

submitted by Screename - 2 years ago
  • A: At Bodum, we pride ourselves on our coffee makers not needing paper filters for a great cup of coffee. Our stainless steel filter is precision cut for optimal filtration, preventing excess residue or grounds in your cup. However, if you prefer to use a paper filter with our Pour Over, the 4 Cup / 17 oz size corresponds roughly to a #2 conical paper filter of any brand. Please note that since our products are designed to be used without paper filters, the sizing may not be exact and the pour-over process may take longer than indicated in the instructions. Enjoy your coffee!

Q: Would it work with a paper filter inside the stainless filter?

submitted by Kay - 4 years ago
  • A: The included stainless steel filter ensures that the oils from the coffee can transfer to your individual cup for full flavor. A paper filter can be inserted for dual filtration, but it will absorb the oils from the coffee and subtly change the taste.

Q: How fine is the metal mesh? Is it 100% stainless steel and no plastic?

submitted by W - 6 years ago
  • A: The mesh portion of the filter is made of 100% stainless steel. The filter does have 100% BPA Free plastic portions of it but the coffee will filter through the stainless steel portion of the filter only. The We don't have the exact measurement for how fine the mesh is; but if the beans are ground to the recommended medium grind (in between coarse and fine) do not expect to find any grinds in your coffee.
