As someone who likes a bold, dark roast I was thoroughly disappointed in Rocky Mountain Thunder. I'm not sure who these reviewers are that think it's amazing, but to me it tasted bland, weak and not much different than what you would find at a gas station. In fact, I thought I made it wrong so I even ran another grind through the French press with more coffee and it didn't help. Fortunately I was able to go get some Peet's Major Dickason's, and that saved my morning!

After using this coffee, I’m extremely pleased! The first thing I love about this coffee is how smooth it is. When I drink this coffee, I never experience any grainy taste. Another great feature about this coffee is how much of the perfect strength it is. The coffee isn’t too light or too dark. I also appreciate how this coffee is not bitter. In my opinion, this coffee has the perfect taste. I also appreciate how fresh the coffee stays and smells. The coffee has a very fresh scent, allowing me to feel like I am brewing a truly high-quality cup of coffee. The coffee is also quite simple and easy to make. The directions have been super easy to follow. There’s honestly nothing I dislike about this coffee! It’s been perfect in every way for me!

I love this coffee! Super bold and smooth! It is great for the morning. I would get it in multiple different flavours for sure!!! It smells so good and fills the entire room! It is perfect with some sweet toast or a cinnamon roll.

The coffee is definitely dark and does not taste like bitter water as some of the dark coffees tend to taste like. However, it does not have a taste other than what you would expect a dark coffee to taste like. I did not really get a flavor from it, reminded me of hospital coffee. Not bad, not great but tolerable.

This is a great coffee with a very smooth taste. I am a a "coffee purist" and typically drink black coffee. Many dark roasts can taste bitter, not this one! This one makes a great pour-over. Would definitely recommend this coffee.

This coffee was listed as a dark roast but I would say it’s more of a medium roast. Overall pretty good flavor, not bitter but just lighter roast than I expected. It is pretty hard to get the bag open as well. For the price point I think it’s a fairly good coffee and would probably purchase it again.

It’s strong yet smoky not bitter! It made a good cup of coffee and smells wonderful too. It was smoky but not too dry. Cute packaging. I would definitely recommend this to someone who likes strong coffee without an overly specific flavor!

This was my first time trying Boyer's Coffee and I went with dark roast because that's what I usually drink and enjoy. This wasn't as dark as I'm used to and you can see the color from the photo. What I liked about it was that the grounds smelled a tiny bit sweet and the brewed coffee tasted good and wasn't bitter; that gets four stars from me. I hope in the future they'll make the dark roast even darker for a stronger flavor.

I brewed this dark roast in my french press. The taste was not acidic, but I did expect a more robust / smoky flavor profile, given the scent of the ground beans. I'll keep trying again with different amount of grounds in my press. My mom also likes dark roast, and she has a coffee maker so we'll try it through her preparation method as well.

I received this product free for my honest review. Once I was able to open the bag I could immediately smell rich coffee. While it was good that the seal was tight to keep the coffee fresh it was very difficult to open and I almost ended up ripping it which would make it difficult to reseal. I brewed a cup with an automatic drip coffee machine. I could smell it brewing from the next room and I love the smell of fresh strong coffee. Finally got to taste it. I drank it black so I could fully taste and appreciate the blend. The coffee was rich but smooth tasting as I was drinking it and I e joked the cup until about 30 mi uses later. Unfortunately, this particular coffee was a bit too acidic for my stomach. However, if you do not have a sensitive stomach I would give this a try.

My husband is the coffee drinker in the house. He always uses a dark roast when brewing his coffee. The first time he made Boyer's Rocky Mountain Thunder dark roast he thought he had made a mistake in measuring. The next day was the same-tasted rather weak. On the third attempt he added another scoop and still thought it wasn't bold enough. He was very disappointed.

Great coffee! I have never had a coffee that says it's brewed at higher altitude so I'm not sure if that makes any difference. However, I do like the smooth, bold flavor of the dark roast, and that it's ethically sourced is a bonus!

This is my first time trying Boyer’s coffee and I am a fan! The Rocky Mountain thunder isn’t too dark. I prefer dark coffee and this isn’t too intense as I prefer but still delish! My husband also loved it. Very smooth and made my kitchen smell amazing as it brewed. Highly recommend trying!

Coffee is something I indulge in as a treat, so when I partake of it, I want it to be good. Boyer's Rocky Mountain Thunder Dark Roast delivers a deep, complex flavor I enjoy with just enough of a caffeine buzz to add some energy to my busy morning. It's terrific black and also holds its own when mixed with oat milk. Because of its chocolatey undertone, I'd love to see what adding some to brownie mix would accomplish. i would prefer whole beans so I can grind them in smaller quantities since I'm an occasional drinker, but these preground beans still produced a fresh-tasting, delicious treat with my old school Mr. Coffee machine.

This company is sourced here in the US, which I appreciate and like to support American companies. This particular ground coffee however wasn't my favorite. I prefer a strong rich coffee so I even added an extra scoop, hoping to have the same strength and flavor I enjoy but it just wasn't there with this coffee. I should note that I did not purchase this item, as I am a product reviewer. I would not buy a bag of this.

A lot of coffees in recent years seem to have an unattractive chemical smell. Not so with Boyers Rocky Mountain Thunder. I was pleasantly surprised upon opening it that it smells just like my favorite craft coffee shop. That smell sends me straight to heaven each time. Even before brewing, I knew this was going to be a great cup of coffee. The coffee itself tastes yummy. I brewed a strong cup black and a weaker cup with milk to compare. If you like a seriously strong cup this coffee will do right by you. If you like a cafe au lait style, you also won't be disappointed.
