I love my machine and do plan on staying with brother product

I am so delighted with my first-ever sewing machine. It’s intuitive, easy to use and has lots of options that make starting out accessible instead of overwhelming, and it’s both sturdy and light enough to transport to the sewing classes that’ve helped me best understand the scope of projects it can churn out. The self-threader alone is a gift that keeps on giving, but this sewing machine also comes loaded with all kinds of tools and pieces that help make building on foundational skills even more immediately within reach.

Excellent machine for someone wanting to learn to sew.

I’ve made quilted bibs, patched a shirt, and two Christmas stocking liners so far! I used some of the embroidery overcast stitches on the quilt square hems and things just for fun. This is my very first ever, new sewing machine, and I received it for Christmas. I love it honestly. It’s so quiet, the top loading bobbin and auto needle threader are tremendously helpful to my neck, which has a fusion in it. I love the built in cutters on the machine so you can reach for your scissors less. Changing feet is SO EASY, you literally just set the thing down into the groove. The stitch guide I found, I printed, and it’s super helpful for knowing which foot to use etc.

The machine parts are not available. Have to garbage the machine that got bought. Pathetic experience, the brother support did not even help and disconnected the chat. Will never buy any brother product in future.

I hate absence of light on the screen. Light is TOO low in general. I The machine works very well BUT it is difficult to see what's going on specially with the setting. The screen has NO LIGHT. I hate it so much.

I have only ever had a Janome sewing machine in college. It was with me almost 20years, but I had to break down and buy a new machine and I'm so glad I did. The new computerized features are a plus. The easy drop in bobbin and self threading needle make sewing worth wild.

This is my second brother machine the first one which is very similar to this purchase had issues with the tension. But I had used it for years, and was pleased to purchase another one until I had issues with the company, not granting me the warranty because of misinformation, which they still have not resolved. Consequently, until resolved, I have only used the new machine a few times. It does have the same problems with threading the needle, but to give an accurate evaluation. I would need to use it more. Still waiting for the company to resolve the warranty issue from data purchase. So far all I’ve received is one email in four months From them.

I have not used a sewing machine in years. Considering that, I was able to hem up some curtains within 30 minutes of unboxing it. Of course it took me 30 minutes to get the bobbin set up, the machine threaded etc. Very simple to figure out with very simple instructions. I think I will even try some different stitches for hemming pants...stretch stitch features may come in handy.

My second sewing machine. The features on this machine are excellent. The instruction book should be revised and made easier to understand.

I bought this for my adult granddaughter for her first machine. She loves it and has put it to very good use. She found it easy to use and has all the features she needs. She was given an expensive machine of another brand, but she likes this one better.

The machine worked fine. Unfortunately it fell off the table and broke the bobbin winder. Apparently that part is not available. I will probably look at a difrrent brand to replace it.

Easy to learn. Easy to use. I watched the videos and read the manual. These made it easy.

I have only had it for 3 hours and I like it! It is a replacement for my old CE4000, which finally died (I gave it a mock funeral) after 15 years. So far, I have done test stitching, reinforced a seam on a new shower curtain, and mended a pair of pants. I am not an expert seamstress. I make little craft items, and I use my machine for basic clothing repairs, etc. I think this machine will do the job just fine for the next 15 years. Two things I have noticed: a. the bobbin winder is now plastic instead of metal. Yuck. b. the storage compartment has not gotten better - it's still "open" and your stuff will fall out if it's not in a bag or pouch. Brother used to include a pouch and yeah..no longer. You have to provide your own. c. the auto needle threader is now mostly plastic - seems fragile and I’m afraid of it. On the good side, here are the improvements over my old machine (the CE4000) 1. the screwdriver is angled so that it will work, without slipping and scratching the plate. Yay! 2. the bobbin case seems far more well designed on this machine. 3. It does seem like it's far quieter and less loud - also, you can set the speed as you wish. This is awesome. 4. it's lighter than my old machine. 5. thread tension seems to be spot on right out of the box. 6. (i wish they would tell you what size needle is installed - I mean, in the actual machine when you remove it from the box.) I couldn't tell, but I’m guessing it's a universal, maybe a 12? 7. the manual was well-written this time. 8. it purrs. it does. 9. Auto one step button hole – this is a non-negotiable for me. It does it well! And in different styles! 10. I don’t think I will use all the stitches in my lifetime, but it’s nice to have those choices. For someone like me, who does basic sewing/mending/craft items, it does beautiful straight, zig-zag, overcast stitches that are just easy to use. This is a great machine for someone who doesn’t want to spend their life savings on a sewing machine, will use it occasionally, and will learn with it. Great job, Brother USA!
