Great Color Laser

I have used Brother printers and related products for decades. I have never been disappointed in their quality or performance. Initially, for the first several hundred pages, the MFC-L3780CDW color laser was curling the paper. After a couple of setting changes, it's no longer doing so. I'm quite satisfied with my purchase.

I havent had the chance top use all the functions yet, it takes a while longer than my old printer to spool up and start printing, the quality of print is great, then when I retrieve the paper its hard to grab it without causing wrinkle somewhere along the top or upper corners (there is no way to easily grab the paper off the output tray)
Doesn't work as designed--doesn't work well

Slower than advertised. Toner cartridges difficult to seat. Can't register the product, which prevents me from calibrating the color, scanning, and so on. Will not buy another Brother product.

We have had numerous Brother printers over the years, and always with great satisfaction. But we have had nothing but trouble keeping this printer up and running! (It’s currently down, and since it’s the weekend, there is nobody to help.)

We had a solid ink printer, Xerox, for decades while spouse worked there. It was great. But this Brother printer is a nice modern addition to our home. Quiet, quick to power-up, clean prints. All very worth the price. We don't print that often, maybe 1x/week.
Love it.

So far I love my brother printer, it’s dependable and easy to set up and use. Although I haven’t had it long enough (6 wks) to give a complete review I’d say we are off to a good start.
Good printer, with a few changes could be great

Love the quality of the output, the connectivity options, and the flexibility it offers especially with scanning documents to send directly to your computer or to a dropbox account or email. There are a few issues with the printer however. 1) The printer is NOT good at printing on envelopes... the print comes out fine, but even on envelopes supposedly made for laser printers this printer scrunches up the edges of the envelope. They're usable, but they're ugly. And this is a solved problem already, our 5-year old Xerox multifunction color laser printer did this much better. Note that this happens EVEN if you're using the bypass manual tray for the envelopes and the rear output option for larger card stock. no matter what you do, you will end up with crinkled envelopes. 2) There's a weird physical design on the output tray for your prints that makes it suprisingly (and annoyingly) tough to reach in and pick up the pages. For like decades, printer makers provided an indentation that the pages rest over to make it easy to grab them. Brother doesn't. Some printers provide a little flip-out lifter thing that does the same. This printer has something like that but it doesn't help. It's super annoying to end up crinkling the corners of every multi-page job just to try to remove it from that deep output tray. 3) The UI is generally good, but there are so many deeply buried options for sending scan jobs to cloud services or email, so you end up with multiple ways to do this and it's super confusing. If you use it infrequently, each time you want to do it it will be a mystery which menus to go through... scanning options? cloud options? shortcut options? and it will take about 10 clicks and levels to get through. It works great, but should be easier. 4) Duplex output is suprisingly slow. The time it takes to suck the page back in to print on the 2nd side is really slow. Our 5-year old Xerox did this so fast that printing in duplex was pretty much as fast as printing one-sided. On this Brother, duplex printing takes about twice as long as printing the same multipage document single-sided. Other than this, it's a good overall printer and we're generally happy with it. Just some ergonomic and UI things that Brother hasn't yet gotten right despite their decades of experience making printers like this.

The duplex and auto document feed features work wonderfully. BUT, the quality of the color printing is at best so-so (compared to my 10+ year old HP that just died) the Brother scanning software that runs this machine is garbage, specifically the scanning software!!!! I have used Read Iris for over 10 years with my HP printer that finally died, and it was wonderful. I am trying to use Read Iris with my new Brother all in one. Wish me luck.

I have been dealing with ink jet printers for decades and the problem that I have been having is that because I tend to go for extended periods without using the printer, whenever I do need to print something it never goes smoothly. I use rheems of paper and gallons of ink to get one good page. Well, no more. Now when my printer sits idle I no longer have to worry that it won't work when I need it. I should have done this years ago The way I use my printer i will probably never need to buy a new toner. This printer will pay for itself in lack of frustration and no more wasted supplies.

We are pleased with the printing but have had trouble using the scanner and up to now have not even tried to use the scanner again. It worked at first and then stopped working and not sure why.
Effortless. Glad we switched!

I bought this Brother laser printer because I was tired of spending money on HP inkjet cartridges, which, in recent times, seem to contain less and less ink (shrinkflation). The last straw was when a color ink cartridge ran dry after only 17 days, and that was with routine printing, not much color on the page. The first thing I noticed about the Brother printer was that the printing, compared with the HP inkjet, is really FAST. I was also pleased with the automatic double-sided printing of a multi-page document, not having to reinsert each odd-number page into the paper tray in order to print the subsequent even-number page on the reverse side. Color printing from .JPG files is better and clearer than HP inkjet. I splurged for the all-in-one model since I had seen from previous experience how handy the COPY mode can be - sparing me the extra steps of scanning into the computer, saving as a .JPG file, then clicking to print it out. This is where the result was disappointing. The color reproduction of a photo was rather dull, not very faithful to the original. This improved after I ran the color calibration utility, but still not perfect. The question remains: Why isn't this calibration done at the factory? It should be a step in the manufacturing process, same as if you were making a camera. Related to copying, SCANNING also leaves much to be desired. For one thing, when I scan a document which is on a perfectly white sheet of paper, the entire background is light grey on the computer screen. The auto-contrast command in Photoshop usually improves it, but I shouldn't have to do that. Again, why isn't this calibrated to begin with? Further, when scanning a page which has printing or writing near the side borders, something always gets cut off on one side or the other, depending on how I place it on the glass. It's as if the device is not scanning the full width of the glass. In some cases, I have had to rotate the page 90 degrees, scan the top half and bottom half separately, and then fit them together in Photoshop. I shouldn't have to do that! Finally, how do I stop Brother's promo pop-up windows from randomly appearing on my computer screen? As someone who often records streaming video using a screen-capture program, the last thing I want in my archive copy of a live concert or sporting event (such as Ovechkin's record-breaking goal today) is advertising in the middle of the screen!

I have a Brother B&W laser printer and bought this Brother color laser printer so I can get rid of my HP ink jet color printer. I use it infrequently and the ink jet cartridges would dry out. The laser printer works every time and will never dry out.

The setup instructions were a little confusing and it took me awhile to figure out how to open it up to install the color cartridges. But after that it been working great. I sure hope I get my refills in time because it’s not real clear exactly how much ink I have.
