Book Synopsis
A terrible accident. Forced retirement. An excuse to pull out the bucket list!
After a motorbike accident leaves her husband with life-changing injuries, author Emma Scattergood organises a worldwide adventure inspired by the contents of an old, laminated bucket list.
It becomes the journey of a lifetime-seeking health and ticking off long-imagined list items: from viewing ancient Petra, treading Greece's Parthenon, and traversing the Suez Canal, to hunting down Doc Martin on the Cornish coast.
Spanning seven months and 19 countries across Asia and Europe, this memoir-told in mouth-watering and humorous detail-pulls you headlong into the sights, culture, challenges and beauty of each place visited. It will make you want to follow in their footsteps, and if you are feeling less adventurous, it offers the perfect escape.
Review Quotes
Fantastic book - Emma has a writing style that takes you on the journey with her. From the delight of her first Singapore Sling to the mysteries of Stonehenge and all her travels in between, I can highly recommend this book. Having her husband at her side, with his walking stick, she expertly planned their travels with his capabilities in mind and delivers a first rate account of the delights of exploring the world. She truly ticks off their bucket list and inspires you to want to follow.
At first I didn't like that it was written in the present tense, but I feel as if I was there with them. Absolutely brilliant. Can't recommend it highly enough. So many wonderful places, many of which are on my own bucket list, so if I never make it, I feel as f I have been there with Emma.
I loved this book as Emma's writing made me feel as though I was there travelling with her and Darryl. I felt inspired as this couple who have faced adversity continue their adventures with a positive and fun loving attitude... truly no excuse for me!
