FOCUS!!

The Focus is not so good, slow to get in focus, sometimes it's in focus, sometimes it refuses to get there and I've missed my shot. No matter which mode, never know if the focus is going to be there.

Great for College Marching Band

I purchased this camera since lenses over 6" weren't allowed into college football games. I used it all 4 years that my daughter marched. I could zoom in on her from way up in the stand and zoom out to catch the formations on the field. I continue to use it on trips now that she's finished with college.

Unless I switch off between shots, the focus holds the previous shot causing any pictures of a differnt focal distance to be totally out of focus

I purchased this camera in March and used it on vacation in October. It's super easy to use the automatic settings and my photos are fabulous! The zoom is amazing. I'm so happy with this purchase; I just purchased another one for a family member. Would definitely recommend for someone who wants something better than phone-photos, or a standard point-and-shoot.

I've had the SX60 for more than two years. I've taken tens of thousands of images with it. I love everything about this camera. The zoom for taking photos of birds, the moon, wildlife and many other things. I love the burst feature that allows me to take multiple photos in a short time. My home looks a gallery of my photos. I've enlarged many of them to as big as 30x40 inches. I'm not a professional photographer but I'm in many Facebook photo groups. My photos are often chosen for the daily collages, header photo, etc. I know that my photos are competing with other photographers whose cameras/lenses cost ten times what mine did. For my purpose the SX60 is perfect.

Great zoom ,but problems with brightness

I love the zoom, and focus is ok, just ok. Main problem is most of my photos are over exposed and I have to go to my pc and open a photo editing program and tweak every photo. Usually to much brightness. It only takes 20-30 seconds or so for each photo, but coming back from vacation with 1500 photos it gets to be quite laborious.

Swivel viewfinder great feature

In addition to being a great camera with a tremendous zoom capability, the swivel view finder is a great feature. I travel a lot with tour groups. There are times when it's difficult to see tour sites because of the crowd. I can lift the camera over my head, above the crowd and with the swivel viewfinder, see the subject and get my photos. The eye level viewfinder is also a help when there is a lot of motion, such as in a boat. This viewfinder allows a steady camera.

All the years I had my canons they were wonderful to download photos. This one is tough. Great taking the photos. Downloading is a whole new ball game. I've had the camera for 2 years. I have all the shots on the camera. But haven't been able to find a descent download system.

Great Zoom; Indoor White Balance Problems

4 out of 5 stars

I am a Canon fan and have been for over 40 years starting with my first “real” camera, the Canonet GIII QL17 rangefinder. I have had the Powershot SX series from the 40 and I have to say, while I am impressed with the speed and the zoom and it’s a great outdoor camera in sunlight, indoor is not quite as good as the SX40 or SX50. With a slight push and setting the white balance to incandescent, I can get a beautiful white color inside in incandescent light with the 50 or 40. With the SX60, it’s yellow no matter how much you push it. It can be fixed in Photoshop, but it’s an extra step now. I think it’s because the pixel sensor isn’t as wide as the previous models. They reduce it a bit more each time. I also do not like the selection wheel; it’s really difficult to use and I have tiny fingers. Love the non pop-up flash. That’s definitely an improvement, and when compared with the previous models, the resolution is much better with the SX60, although. I’m not sure why Canon couldn’t upgrade it to 20mP as with most cameras. This is a crucial flaw. The screen is larger and a much better resolution, the level is also a good addition. Moving the push button to a completely separate function is weird and hard to get used to, but definitely has potential in that you can now take photos with 3 different settings for HDR. The guide is a different format and making it more like a pamphlet and less like a book makes it more difficult to use. Wifi is not easy to use when transferring to a computer, but is with an iPad. The wider lens is probably one reason why the camera is heavier (along with the longer optical zoom), but both make it well worth the extra weight.

What a great little camera. It is a nice step between the high end and low end. The zoom feature is absolutely incredible. You'll need a monopod or tripod to use it effectively. I am completely satisfied and highly recommend.

Best Camera that is not a DSLR

Since retirement digital photography has become my hobby. I normally like to use the Canon 80D for most of my photography but there are times when it is just not practical to carry a large camera like that such as going to places like Walt Disney World. That is where the SX60HS is such a fantastic camera to use. Not only does it have a fantastic zoom, is very versatile, easy to carry on a long day at the parks, the picture quality is the best part. I never feel like I am sacrificing anything by using this camera instead of the 80D. I have owned it for over a year and have used it on trips to National Parks, to places like WDW and Universal, taken it local zoos and have taken fantastic pictures with it. The ability to change shooting parameters and modes makes this a great camera. I love it and use it often.

Great travel camera with a Long Zoom. I choose it because of the compact size with long telephoto lens. Simple controls make it easy to set up on the move. I carry it in a Canon Case, top flips up for easy access to camera, case has long strap for around the neck/shoulder carry for front or side use.

This camera continues to surprise me. Excellent features great image quality. The zoom is tremendous. It does struggle in low light but outside during the day and in well light areas it is fabulous. They need to make another version with even more zoom and higher image quality. Love this camera.

My son gave me this camera for Christmas last year because he had one. Although the camera I got for Christmas had the flash feature go bad, I sent it to Canon to be repaired they just sent me a replacement. The camera I had took outstanding pictures and the zoom was out of this world (Moon and other distance shots) The shooting mode features are awesome! Best camera I've ever owned!

I was thrilled with this when I bought 2 of them, one for me, one for my wife, over 3 years ago. It was great for its time. Now, the sensor is just horribly outdated. The video is still excellent. I love the feature that allows for double the optical zoom in video mode. But, the noise at ISO 1600 is comparable or worse than the noise from newer cameras at ISO 6400, even with the same sensor size. And, the viewfinder just can't track moving subjects with continuous photo shooting. Further, what was the top of the line zoom no longer is. It's time for Canon to take back this market.

Excellent for zoom and macro

Very nice bridge camera. When I first got it, I noticed the colors were not a vivid as my previous camera, but, actually, the Canon Powershot SX60HS renders natural color. I don't always like the auto mode, because the camera chooses where to focus, which is not always where I want to focus, so I often use the "P" mode, which gives me more control. For zoom photos, the camera is great. I've noticed that, even when I think the camera is a little shaky, I usually get a good photo (see moon photo). I attribute that to image stabilization. As well as zoom, the camera is very good for Macro. Usually, however, if I'm taking something like a flower, I stand about 5 feet away and zoom in. The detail is excellent. Overall, this camera is fairly easy to operate. It does have some modes, like "sleeping baby" that I find to be useless. Most of my pictures are of birds and landscapes, so it works well for that purpose. I bought a monopod for additional stability, but find that I don't need it most of the time. Another feature I really like is the pairing with a smart phone. I track location using and iPhone 6, then transfer the location information to the camera. That was an important feature in my decision to buy the camera. I typically use the viewfinder, but the flip out screen works well too, except in very sunny situations. I am pretty much of an amateur, but had no trouble learning to use the camera. If you are looking for a camera with a long zoom, macro capability and WIFI you will be happy with the Canon SX60HS.

Absolutely Wonderful Pictures and Video!

I usually take either my 60D or 70D when I go on vacation, but since I had to travel light to Africa I bought the SX60HS. As you can imagine, there was a small learning curb to use this camera, but basically the knobs and futures were similar to my other cameras. I used a lot of the features on the camera and was not disappointed at all. The videos were great and taking pictures while using the video was a feature that I really liked. The lens reach was great, but there is a slight fuzziness when you get to 65 so I suggest you only take it to around 63. The camera is very comfortable to use and the buttons and dials conveniently placed. I did not use the WIFI feature because I wanted to download the pictures quickly to my computer when I got home and not learn how to use the WIFI feature first. I enlarged most of these pictures 8 1/2 x 11 and they the colors are crisp and pictures clear. You can judge for yourself after seeing my unedited pictures.
