  • Engage in a world of swashbuckling and hidouts
  • A streamlined version of the classic Catan
  • Easy for younger players to learn and enjoy

Description

A Catan adventure for fledgling swashbucklers, Catan: Junior introduces a modified playing style of the classic game giving younger players the opportunity to experience the world of Catan. Designed for players as young as five, Catan: Junior is a perfect introduction to the Catan series of games for kids and families. Catan: Junior takes place on a ring of islands where two to four players build hideouts, avoiding the mysterious Spooky Island, where the Ghost Captain lives, Each island generates a specific resource: wood, goats, molasses, or swords and players can acquire gold. Each player starts with two pirate hideouts, then builds ships in order to expand their network. The more hideouts you build, the more resources you may receive. You use your resources to build shiips, hideouts, or get help from Coco the Parrot. Just watch out for the dreaded Ghost Captain! Be the first player to control seven pirate hideouts and you win the game.

Great for little kids and fun for adults too. We have a 6 and 10 year old. Not too long or short and less expensive then adult Catan games.

Super fun game. It took about 20 minutes for the first set up since there are a ton of pieces to pop out but the game play was awesome and took about 30 minutes per game. My 9 year old hoarded resources and wiped the floor with us.

My 5 and 9 year old can both play it, and in fact my 5 year old has beat all of us quite a few times (he gets lucky with the coco tiles). The kids think it’s so cool there is a pirate ghost lurking on the board. I’ve never played the adult Catan but have a feeling we will one day graduate to it. The instructions were so easy to follow. Highly recommend!

Love this Game

Confused Cat - 3 years ago
Love this game. I wish they would make other variants, themes, or something. Great for whole family, light but fun competition among friends, or a strategy game for those friends who roll their eyes when you bring out most games. So glad it has a 2 player game, unlike most versions of unmodified Catan. Just really think this game is great!

Board is too small/not enough spaces

It’s impossible to win. There are not enough spaces with four players. The idea is great and similar enough to the adult version but I feel like the board is flawed.

Easy to Learn & Hooked My Whole Family

5 out of 5 stars
Commander X - 3 years ago, Verified purchaser
The easy setup, simple instructions, and fun strategy have made this a huge hit in our house. Even for the grown-ups, this has been an exciting (and addicting) introduction to more strategic board games. I've been trying to get my wife to try Settlers of Catan with me for at least a year, and she hasn't been interested; I decided to try a different approach, and hook my kids first. My nine-year-old son and six-year-old daughter LOVE this version of the game (and frequently beat the socks off me). We had so much fun my wife finally got interested, and now SHE'S hooked (on this and the regular version).

We have struggled to find games that both my 5 and 12 year old can play together. This game was perfect. My 5 year old needs very little assistance in playing this game which makes it more fun for everyone.

Fantastic game. This is my 6 year old son's favorite game. As parents, this is also our favorite game to play with him. We all know what it's like to play a mindless game 5 times in a row with our children. This game is not one of those games. He is able to understand the strategy behind the game but it's still challenging enough that none of us get bored. We've owned it for a year now and we enjoy it as much as the first time we played. Can't recommend enough.

My 7-y-o and I love to play this game and so do his friends and grandparents. It takes some critical thinking strategies for the kids to win, but it is still challenging enough for adults that we enjoy the game.
