Description

About the Book

Former FBI behavioral analysts River Ryland and Tony St. Clair are asked to assist on a profile to catch the Snowman, a serial killer who has stayed hidden for over twenty years. As the killer's pattern emerges and danger mounts, River and Tony are in a race against the clock to catch a killer before he catches one of them.

From the Back Cover

Twenty years ago, several people were murdered in Des Moines, and the only evidence left behind was a snowman ornament hanging ominously on a tree in the victims' front lawns. With a suspect behind bars, the killings have come to an end--or so everyone thought. But now crimes with a similar MO are happening in a small Iowa town, and a local detective believes the killer is back and ready to strike again.

With little time left on the clock before they have another murder on their hands, private investigators River Ryland and Tony St. Clair must work alongside Tony's detective father to find evidence that will uncover an evil that has survived far too long. As the danger mounts and the suspect closes in, it will take all they have to catch a killer--before he catches one of them.

Nancy Mehl delivers nail-biting suspense with . . .

First, let me just say that I’m glad I don’t have a basement or live in a place where it snows! Ha, ha. Ok, it’s not really that bad. This series is perfect if you like some suspense but not the constant, never-stop-pounding-heart kind of suspense. It’s tempered by lots of character development, family interactions, and a strong faith thread. QUICK SYNOPSIS: In Cold Threat Tony and River travel to a small town in Iowa to help Tony’s detective father with a murder case. We get to know Tony’s family and see River’s faith and relationship with Tony develop all while discovering evidence alongside these private investigators. The UNSUB’s signature involves snow, fire, and leaving a snowman ornament at the crime scene. Will they find out who the killer is before he/she strikes again? What I love: - Older main characters - Banter & SLOW developing romance (very light on romance) - Faith thread that feels natural (I wish I could’ve butted in between one conversation, though.) - All the yummy food - Trying to guess who dunnit and being right about at least one thing! I was glued from start to finish! Definitely read book one, Cold Threat, first since a plot thread from that story continues in book 2. *Thank you to the publisher for sending me a paperback ARC! All opinions in this post are my own.

Wow!! Nancy Mehl did it again! This book has so much in between its covers that it's hard to pick my favorite things. But one thing I loved reading was River and Tony being human. Struggling with things like guilt and trust, but then learning to have faith and fully trust God in all things. Seriously, the characters are so relatable, I feel like I know them! Then, if that isn't enough, there are TWO threads of suspense within the story that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I would definitely recommend the first book so you can fully understand what River and Tony have been through and one part of this story is a continuation from book 1. Definitely 5 stars and I cannot wait to read book 3!! I was given this book to read and review -all opinions are my own

Wow! Once again masterful author, Nancy Mehl, has written a brilliant, chilling suspense that is absolutely unputdownable! I was totally mesmerized as I tried to solve the mystery behind the evil mastermind, aka The Snowman—responsible for a series of murders spanning 20 years. The dynamics between best friends and private investigators, River Ryland and Tony St. Clair are not only proficiently adept, but their humorous quips and banter helped to lighten an otherwise dark plot. I'm also sensing a burgeoning flirtation going on, so we'll see in Book 3 if this dynamic duo ever moves out of the friend zone or not. I particularly enjoyed the snow-covered Christmassy atmosphere—just not sure I'll ever look at a snowman the same way again! 😳 Also a beautifully written, compassionate story of the plight of some foster children who get lost in the system, PTSD victims, and redemption from severe guilt...I predict many an award for Cold Threat! *I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to write a favorable review.*

Edge of the Seat Suspense!

Cold Threat by author Nancy Mehl is a book that you absolutely will not want to put down until all the mysteries are solved. This writer is very adept at making her characters come to life as you read. River and Tony and his parents and the villains are going to be living in your thoughts. Also Mehl sets the scene in such a way that you will smell the fire, hear it crackling and popping, and see it blaze. There are twists and turns in Cold Threat that I never saw coming. I enjoyed reading about the faith of River, Tony and his parents. There are themes of trust and forgiveness flowing through the book. Also the book deals with dementia in a straightforward but loving way. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Cold Vengeance. I highly recommend this superb romantic suspense. I received a complimentary copy through the publisher and am sharing my opinion of this well-written book.
