About Three-horned Chameleons Jackson's chameleon is a small to medium-sized African chameleon, with the adults reaching lengths of up to 12 inches long. This chameleon ranges in weight from 2 - 4 pounds and in captivity can reach 5-9 years of age. Jackson's chameleon originates from Africa, mostly from the more humid countries of Kenya and Tanzania. A subspecies of the Jackson's chameleon was introduced to the Hawaiian islands in 1970, and the population has since grown to cover all of the major islands. Male Jackson's chameleons are known as three-horned chameleons, because of their three horns. The females of this species for the most part do not have horns - if they do, the horns are extremely undeveloped.
