Comstock Original Country Cherry Pie Filling & Topping - 21oz

I am glad my wife and I were eating our cherry pie ourselfes. Found two pair of stems and 3 pits. Get rid of your quality control. It isn't working.

I see a recent review stating they got sick due to gluten in this product. I am standing in the store and neither the label nor the Smartlabel online state any gluten ingredients nor chance of cross-contact with gluten. Legally, a product which has wheat must state so, even if not for chance of cross contamination. Quite disappointed ooening this can and spreading on my cheesecake to find only 19 cherries in a 21oz can. Not sure we will be buying this again. The flavor is good but was very disappointed in the smount of actual fruit in the can. I have a picture but the site does not allow attachments.

I’ve used this brand for many, many years, but now it seems to be lacking flavor and the glaze seems to be really thick. Quite disappointing, and I may have to find a different brand.

You know how we should check the ingredients to see what’s in something? Ok so, I occasionally try to bake something. This is what’s in Duncan Hines Cherry Pie filling. High fructose corn syrup. Ok, so at least they’re letting you know there’s something in it that’s not good for you, but then… “Food Starch- Modified”?! They don’t tell you which food(s) they’re getting the starch from. If you’re having problems with gluten, I’d stay away from this product. My guess is that it’s made from a combination of corn starch and wheat flour. Corn starch has zeins and wheat has gliadins, both of which are glutens. And the Safety Warning warns you a cherry may contain a pit. Ingredients Cherries, Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Food Starch-Modified, Erythorbic Acid (to Promote Color Retention), Artificial Color (Red 40). I've bought this product several times and found that the can was PACKED with cherries! The syrup tasted great, too. I made several cherry cobblers with this and they all came out fantastic. I've also used the "Extra Cherry" filling and that can did indeed have MORE cherries. In fact, you couldn't put any more cherries in the can, that's how full of cherries the can was. I don't know what people are saying when they claim that this product had hardly any cherries. I find those claims to be utterly ridiculous. I'm a retired statistician and there's no way that the 6 or so cans I've purchased could not have been representative of the quality of this product. Given the price of this Duncan Hines product, I haven't even considered buying the generic supermarket brand. Try a can of this Comstock Cherry filling, you won't be disappointed!

I paid extra to get Duncan Hines Comstock Original Country Cherry Pie Filling & Topping only to find 19 cherries in a 21 oz can of syrup! I am hugely disappointed in you Duncan Hines. You're better than this! Also, the flavor is similar to what you would expect in a jelly donut.

I bought this product a couple of months ago but just now got around to using it. I made a "dump cake" with it. Turned out delicious! Sorry some others had a bad experience. I have been using this product over the years and always find it to be just fine.

I bought one can of Duncan Hines/Comstock cherry pie filling and one can of the store brand which was much less expensive. The Comstock had very few cherries and much more goo than the store brand, despite the Comstock can saying, “Now with more cherries.” Also, Comstock uses high fructose corn syrup and the store brand uses sugar. Won’t be buying Comstock again.

My wife used to use these all the time but hadn't for a few years. She bought a new can and when she opened it there was not one cherry, just a bright red mass of what others have referred to as "gelatinous goo". It just hung on the spoon, wouldn't even come off. I have pictures to prove it. The kicker is the first ingredient on the list is...you guessed it...CHERRIES! It is resting at the bottom of the trash can and we will ask the store for a refund.

I was pleasantly surprised with all the beautiful cherries. Just enough syrup to hold them together. Cherries were not too sweet. The can mentioned 10% more fruit and no high fructose corn syrup.

4 whole pits in one can !!..I never got so many pits in 1 can of cherry filling..I would never buy this again or recommend

Yep I read on here luckily so hand put in and good thing. I found two stems and a pit. Wow, sad when a store brand does better then a nation made product. Shame. Last time I'll buy duncan hines, why waste my time when I have never had to hand check a product before.

I've been making cherry tarts every year for Christmas for a long time last year when I purchased my Comstock e cherries were very small And didn't fill my tray. This year I was hesitant but purchased them anyway what a delight to have extra cherries to finish my treats

I bought this recently because we needed to make a quick and easy pie. Pros: It was quick and easy to use. I appreciate the convenience and the low price. Cons: Not much fruit, and has a not overly sweet yet unremarkable flavor. Disappointed to find pits in this filling. Would buy again if i was in a pinch, or if no other fruit fillings are available at the market. I am going to shop around to find the best quality filling for me.

I almost broke my tooth on a seed that I had put a can of Duncan Hines pie filling on my cheese cake. I never had a problem at all with any Duncan Hines products but this can.
