worth!

bought this on a whim because it was on sale that day and I'm so glad I did! Where we live, it can be 40 degrees one day and 80 degrees the next, so it's nice to be able to keep warm on the patio on a cold day. It doesn't have a large heating radius, but it's more than enough for our needs! So glad I came across it!

Now it works fine again

For what it is and the price, it provides great heating. I was a bit concerned about the quality of it because it kept lighting up after it was in storage for over 6 months after the first use. Fortunately, it is still under warranty and East Oak was kind enough to send me a replacement cover. It may just need a new thermocouple and a new exhaust switch, but it is like new now. It works fine again. So 5 stars for the service and maybe 3.5 stars for the heater.

This is better than any other product I've looked at

This makes a great addition to our 1600 sq ft patio. Very sturdy and well made. Nicely packaged. My husband assembled it and installed it in an hour and a half. We also purchased a heat reflector and were very happy with the performance of this easy to install add-on. It directs the heat to a more precise area. I asked him if the instructions were easy to follow and he said they were. I often have him help me assemble things. So I think he is pretty skilled at this. We will be buying another one once I finish writing this review. It will be great for entertaining guests.

Powerful, elegant, and great value

This patio heater has exceeded our expectations! It's powerful and easily warms our outdoor space on those cool California evenings. Its design and look go perfectly with my outdoor furniture, and I often get compliments from friends. The quality and look of this really makes a noticeable difference compared to cheaper heaters. This is not your run-of-the-mill, flimsy heater. It feels solid, looks high-end, and performs well. I also recommend getting a heat transfer plate or adapter - it helps transfer heat more efficiently and saves energy in the long run. Highly recommend if you're looking for a powerful, stylish product that will enhance, not detract from, your outdoor ambiance!

So far, so good.

I bought this Cuisinart outdoor propane heater after I bought 5 electric patio heaters in the past two years that burned out once the return policy expired. So far, it's been great. I have a small patio so this is the perfect size. If you want to heat a large area, this heater is not for you. I'm very happy with it though.

Works great, looks great, and assembly is relatively simple

Take everything out of the box. Make sure to take the hardware bag out. Have someone start removing the blue protective tape from the 4 pieces that are connected together as well as the top most piece as this process is fiddly and time consuming. Make small movements around the edges to get it started when you peel off the blue film. Get a socket wrench and screwdriver ready. Then, just connect the four bent pieces of metal together to form a large circle, using the outside holes as you will then use the inside holes to connect the top most piece to it. The top most piece should be facing down with the bowl shaped. Sequence: 1. Attach the wheels to the base 2. Attach the 3 bent rods to the base. The tops of the bends should point towards each other (inwards). Now I placed the 20 lb tank on the base. 3. The lower pipe triangle connects to the top of the 3 bent rods4. After feeding the gas line down the upper pipe, the upper pipe connects to the heater unit5. The circle with the top most cap (bowl facing down) now installed connects to the heater unit with the 3 double threaded screws6. Remove the 4 existing screws from the top of the lower pipe. You will use them again to connect the entire top half of the heater to the lower half of the heater. 7. Feed the gas line from the bottom of the upper pipe down through the lower pipe where it comes out of the gas tank. 8. Screw it onto a 20 lb LPG tank. 9. Open the gas tank valve, turn the unit dial 1/4 turn counterclockwise and hold it, and press the ignition button. It will ignite quickly, but you will have to continue to press the dial for a few seconds to get a good gas flow. Hope this helps!

Looks like it's fully functional and the price is right

Just installed it on my outdoor patio. Looks good for the price, but a few things to note: (1) the power cord is a bit short - so you'll either need to be close to an outlet or use an outdoor extension cord and make sure the connection is secure/weatherproof; (2) the bracket mounts securely to the house; but the connection to the heater itself could be a bit more secure. The manufacturer should consider using a higher quality bracket to ensure stability of the entire bracket (which consists of two parts connected by nuts and bolts). All in all, it's inexpensive and does a good job of keeping out cold nights. Hopefully it will last a bit longer.

A real lifesaver

This patio heater has been a life saver this fall. I recently started renovating my master bathroom and had to work outside in the cold, cutting tile for installation. I had an enclosed tent for my tools but it was too cold. This heater is perfect for heating up a 10'x10' space. I don't know how I would have kept my hands soaked in water all day without this heater. It's tall and thin, so it fits neatly in a corner and radiates heat. I leave it on during the day while I work so it feels safe because it turns off if I accidentally knock it over. I love this heater and it's so easy to use.

Staying Warm in the Pacific Northwest

We live in the Pacific Northwest and it can be very windy, rainy and cold. We have two of these heaters on our patio. We love to have dinner on the patio in the winter and these two heaters make it easier to sit outside and enjoy our dinner. I am from California and don't like the cold. The pros are that it was easy to install and works great. The cons are that it doesn't dissipate the heat as effectively as I would like. However, for the price, it's a great deal.

Perfect for my application

This heater replaced a commercial heater I bought a few years ago. That heater had a concrete base with some kind of heat absorbing foam block in it and a similar metal heat reflector. It was used primarily on my patio with two chairs underneath, one for me and one for my wife. Over the years the concrete block broke down and crumbled, and cleaning the heater became a chore every year because spiders would lay eggs in the gas nozzles. This heater, while not commercial, puts out enough heat to keep us warm at night or to have an early morning coffee outdoors. It's in the 40s to 50s in Connecticut right now, and I was toasty warm at 4:30 in the morning in a sweatshirt and sweatpants. I didn't even turn the heater up full - maybe three quarters. The base isn't that heavy, so I'd be concerned about a high wind or storm. I filled the base with water, but maybe I should try sand. Of course, a full propane tank would add some weight as well. It has a wheel base, so it's easier to move around than a commercial unit without wheels. The assembly took less than an hour, and I didn't need any extra parts or materials to fasten the parts. Everything that came with it was enough to put this thing together. I recommend using a power drill and maybe a small socket wrench to tighten the bolts. It comes with those cheap wrench tools that will get the job done, but you need some muscle to use them. The hardest part was assembling the heat shield, because it's a metal round reflector cut into three parts, and it's likely that the whole unit will fit into a large box. This is a fairly large heat reflector. The plastic on the heat reflector is a pain, but that's to avoid scratches. Not sure why... This unit is 7 feet tall. That's a pretty standard height. My commercial unit is the same height. The difference here is actually that the commercial unit has less assembly, so there are fewer tension points. This unit fits into a large 3x4 inch box, so you have to assemble the long tube in two parts instead of one whole piece. I got the bronze model, and it looks pretty good. For the price, it's definitely worth it. If it lasts five years, I'll be happy. I don't plan on putting a cover on it or moving it inside the house in the winter.

Trouble-Free Patio Heaters

Most people will want to buy this to heat their patio or balcony. It can be attached to a wall, but can also be placed on a stand if needed. Just to be clear, I didn't buy two of these to heat a patio or balcony, but to heat two outdoor kennels for my German Shepherds. I leave them outside until they are brought inside for bedtime. This type of heater, regardless of brand, will not work that well when attached to a wall or placed in an open area when it is windy. That's it. If you have a partially enclosed space to block the wind, that's fine. Now, both of my kennels are open on all four sides, but from fall to spring I have windscreens installed on all four sides of the kennels, they are 10' x 10' rectangles and 8' tall. I hang the heaters from the ceiling posts in the kennels and it works great. It was very easy to assemble. I have wall mounted heaters (different brand) on my patio, and I can tell you that these are much easier to install than the ones I have on the patio. It's a piece of cake. All the hardware you need is included in the package. I was able to mount these on the wall in less than 5 minutes. It also took me less time to hang them from the ceiling of the kennel. How about the remote? It works perfectly, and for me, it is essential, not just for convenience. I don't want to walk up to the heater to turn it on or off if I don't have to. You can certainly do that, but it's much more convenient to click on the remote. It's easy to operate and intuitive. You don't need instructions to operate it. As for the heating, it has three levels. Level 1 is 900 watts, level 2 is 1200 watts, and level 3 is 1500 watts. I feel that level 1 is more than enough for temperatures of 40 degrees. I would not use it if the temperature was 50 degrees or above. (These are German Shepherds, not people) That being said, I believe that the level 1 heater is more than enough for humans at temperatures of 50 degrees Fahrenheit (about 10 degrees Celsius). The level 3 heater is for temperatures below 30 degrees Fahrenheit (about 1.7 degrees Celsius). I have taken the dogs out at 5 degrees Fahrenheit (about 10 degrees Celsius) and they were fine. Remember, these are infrared heaters, they heat objects, not air. So when the dog stands or sleeps under the heater, they will feel warm, even though the air is cold. I wholeheartedly (no pun intended) recommend this product. It is top notch in every way.

Overall good, but poor workmanship and troublesome to assemb

bought three and they were a real pain to assemble. I'm a do-it-yourselfer and pretty good at assembly. I usually have no problem assembling things, and while the assembly process for these heaters was simple, it was quite time-consuming due to the parts being scattered in a relatively small flat box. Worse, they were of very poor workmanship and material quality. In many places the screws were driven into super thin sheet metal which didn't hold very well, and because the material was so thin the screws would be skewed to go in the direction of the angle of the threads. Some parts had a strong hold with the proper long threaded hole screw seats, but many of the holes had very poor threads and were difficult to secure without applying excessive force. The metal grilles were only dipped, and in many places the dip had peeled and rusted right out of the box. Several of the hooks used to hang the grilles were bent and would not fit without bending them back into place. This only exacerbated the problem of peeling coating. Lastly, the screws they provided couldn't be any cheaper. In those cases where the screws didn't go in smoothly due to poor threading in the screw holes, many of the screw heads would peel and grind to dust if I applied more than slight force. I used a DeWalt electric screwdriver with the clutch set to 4 of the 17 positions (less than 25% force) and the Phillips screw heads were ground into round holes. Yes, I used a good quality German-made Wiha drill bit of the right size. All in all, after assembly they seem to work fine, but I really wouldn't recommend them unless you have no other choice. The excessive assembly hassles and low-grade material and build quality mean they probably won't last long.

Warmth and lighting

bought two and am very pleased. Assembly took a little while but was not difficult and the instructions were easy to follow. The adjustable heating knobs are nice and work great. We had a party last weekend and the five of us were very comfortable on a cold night. I had one hardware issue. The factory sealed packaging for one of the heaters was missing three bolts to secure the top heat reflector. This was in no way anyone's fault. It was a machine failure during the packaging process. I contacted them and they promptly sent me the missing bolts. I would recommend this product to a friend and I have already recommended it myself. UPDATE: I was careless with my storage of my heaters and one of them blew over during a major storm. The customer service staff was very helpful. The way they treated me made me feel like family. During the call I could literally hear them feel sorry for me. The damaged item was shipped to me immediately. I will use the bungee cords to secure the heater to the garage wall as they suggest. Seriously, these are fantastic heaters and you should go all out if you are considering buying one.

Assembly Tips

Looks great, heats up quickly and evenly. As others have said, the instructions leave a lot to be desired (mainly the screw labels), but the assembly is actually pretty good. You'll need two AAA batteries and a screwdriver (not included). I recommend assembling it horizontally on two chairs, rather than upside down, and having a second person hold the weighted base while you screw in the screws. Also, a note about the screws/bolts: The black screws go with the black plastic cover on the top. There are 4 sets of silver bolts in the base. Screw in the very short, wide silver bolts first to secure the first small plate. Save the thin, long silver bolts for last. You will be left with two larger sets of silver bolts, one slightly longer than the other. Next use the shorter of the two bolts to secure the black rod to the first plate. Then use the longest large bolt and two washers to secure the weighted base. Finally, secure the small plastic camping board that holds the wires with the thin, long silver bolts. Also, be sure to remove the cushioning foam block inside the glass bulb before turning it on! If the foam block gets stuck in the metal grille (second picture), I found that using tweezers will get it out. All of this in a great looking, compact, high quality heater. Just what I was looking for.

Carefully crafted

was very impressed with this heater. I originally purchased a different brand because costway could deliver before our outdoor Covid-19 Thanksgiving dinner. It arrived on time, but it was damaged when it arrived. Couldn't turn it on and customer service never responded to emails. I sent it back! The heater arrived two days later and it came in a very sturdy and padded box. I wish they used something other than Styrofoam because Styrofoam is not recyclable. The heater case is very sturdy and well assembled. The mounting bracket is easy to use and also comes with wall fasteners. I like the three heat levels, the timer, and the display that shows the heat level. My only complaint is that the remote is very flimsy. I had to use black electrical tape to keep the battery access door closed. Batteries were not provided either. (2- AAA) Reading the reviews revealed that many users had unrealistic expectations for this heater. It is not designed to heat the air in a room. It uses infrared to heat you except when you are standing in front of it. It works very well for me in my studio because I point it at where my workbench is. I felt warm as long as I stood there. Highly recommended!
