About the Book
"My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods or monsters. I still can't decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me. Then there's Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn't felt anything for a hundred years. But there's something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what's broken in me. Which could spell death for us all. Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I'm wondering if I was brought here intentionally--as the bait."--Provided by publisher.Book Synopsis

I actually read this before I read Twilight expecting to love it and was so bored. The storyline seemed super dragged out, way too many short chapters, many could have been condensed into bigger, more climactic chapters. And the timeline was very slow and frustrating to me. 90% of the book takes place over a week and the end chapters rush through about 2 weeks. The writing style was very young too, almost cringey tbh but I wanted to finish it instead of giving up. Ended up returning it after and bought Twilight instead and love that so much more.

Honestly I would give the book a 3.5/5. It wasn't necessarily bad but it wasn't really great either. Despite some new and original concepts the book seemed to mimic and combine alot of differnt stories in one. I'm not one for romance novels so I felt it was overly cliche. The mere fact it took 39 chapters for Grace to put two and two together made the story drag out longer than it needed to be. With that being said I also couldn't simply put the book down. Watching the chemistry between Grace and Jaxon although obvious , blossomed beautifully. I was so invested in the book and always wanted to know what happened next. I definitely have a love hate relationship. This was my first wver book by Tracy Wolff. I have never read twilight nor do I ever plan on it, buy I can honestly say to my friends who were obsessed with it, they would absolutely enjoy this Young adult paranormal Romeo and juliet style novel. Do I plan on reading the rest of the series? Perhaps if it came free like this option but im in no rush st all. Katamere academy did offer some awesome elements though. It had me thinking where do I fall in the world where things that go bump in the Night truly exist?
Not for me.

This book was awful. I couldn't get past the first chapter or two. Very young writing style - immature almost.

I can’t even read the book properly because pages 25-56 are UPSIDE DOWN AND BACKWARD. I truly don’t understand how this could’ve happened.

Stayed up until 1AM reading. The writing isn't the best, but the plot is amazing. I expected it to be a Twilight ripoff but it totally took its own spin. But still, if you liked Twilight, I HIGHLY reccomend reading this. 500/5. :D (Also ordering next books & SO excited to read them! The ending- i cant. Also Jason POV at the end was rlly cool :)))))
loved it!!

Ok I bought this for the same reason most people probably bought this; I’m a twilight fan. However, this is nothing like Twilight. I will admit that I love the main male lead, but the main girl lead is very annoying. She seems desperate and not very believable as a character in general. At times, even cringey. I felt like the climax of this story was very anticlimactic and ended very quickly. Very disappointing when you’ve been on a binger in hopes of some good action. Also, not sure how I feel about the ending from Grace’s POV. I will be reading the second one out of curiosity, but I almost feel as if the author was trying so hard to do something shockingly different from Twilight and I’m curious to see if it’s a hit or miss. I do love that the book includes a couple chapters from Jaxon’s POV, those are actually well written and more believable. Jaxon is what sustained my interest enough to finish off the story. Maybe I just had way too high of expectations. I can’t imagine what the next 3 books will hold, but I’m hoping they will get better along the way.

I bought this because I grew up on twilight and thought it might be kind of a similar guilty pleasure read and I just really couldn’t get into it because the writing is pretty poor. It’s definitely more for a younger audience.

I love this book so much. I would describe it as the next twilight and vampire academy combined. A must read for any vampire young adult. Be prepared to fall in love with all the characters. I really hope the movie comes out soon!

I picked this up because the cover is reminiscent of twilight but this novel really holds its own. It travels a little slow at first but because it has to. Great characters, and the main character is actually relatable. The second novel in the series is even better

A good runner up to twilight. Fill the vampire romance void since reading twilight so many years ago. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I don't like the writing in this book, it seems very juvenile. It seems like a book with someone with minimal writing experience. The plot is okay but its not a book that i am devouring, it has been a little painful to read.
